the msx-3 i believe is more of a rtr based car. the mtx-3 is mugens flagship when it comes to sedan racing. running the mtx-3 on the streets (unprepared surface), will only ruin the car especially the belts. the msx-3 is shaft driven and can take the abuse of the bashers....

i never had a msx-3 but being an owner of a mtx-3, i assume the quality and workmanship of the msx-3 should be pretty good.

The MSX 3 is a shaftdrive RTR entry level kit. I had one and it was the first 1/10th car i bought. It is only good enough for low level club racing at best. It doesnt come with a 2 speed as standard and you will get fed up with it after 3 months.

Saying that I used it for a summer and installed a Novarossi pull start and 2 speed and managed to get it around the track OK. I then went to Kyosho and have never looked back

You get a nice carry bag with it which I still use today!
