Touring or 1/8th
 

Let see which class is more liked. Pros and cons. 1/10th sedan vs 1/8. Would really like to hear from the top level drivers that actually compete in both classes. IMO sedan has become the more driver class. Don't get me wrong 1/8th has you on your toes.

I race both but prefer touring at the moment as I feel you really need to get the car right and drive it very precisely in order to be quick and consistent. 1/8th however can be easier to drive and place the car due to the higher grip and downforce. I love driving the 1/8th car but to be honest at the moment I'm finding the challenge of touring great. Costs seem to be about equal as I burn through touring car Tyres far quicker than 1/8th Tyres although I use half as much fuel.

I will agree it requires more technical experience to set up and drive 1/10th than the 1/8th because the 1/8th has wider rear end than the 1/10th which allows for more unconventional driving style than the strict driving style of the 1/10th ....the 1/8th is easier to drive than the 1/0th and thats ,why i wasn't to please when i was sponsored to drive the touring car for team magic...my decision was based on the power of the 1/8th because its ability to touch speeds up til 80 mph....there's other various reasons but more importantly.the design and excitement of the 1/8th

1/10 sedan for me. I love the challenge of sedan racing.

for .12 motors??.. Why does every class go out
of control dollar wise??

1/8. I did race some 1/10 races with different cars but the 1/8 drives more agressive.

Over here in Holland the 1/10 nationals did follow the German Hobby Cub by using only the N12T1 motor (now called Sturm) The 100 euro motor is fast enough and the races are close.

At the Dutch nationals cup we all drive the N12T1 Sturm motor from Novarossi with a Hipex low Noise exhaust. At all tracks we drive within 0.4s. of the trackrecord with free motors.

Racing with a 90 euro motor is fun, we all have the same speed and torque, look here:

:) when i started going to the track on sundays in early 2009ish as a(spectator).
.12 engines of the time were popping left an right,
i thought to my self no way in hell am i getting in to this sport.

Then one Sunday this guy brought out this wedge shaped thing:o:o,
mrx4? with a ninja .21, blitz lola body first time down the straight i lost track of this ....thing :weird:
Second time down the straight ......i want one of those:D :D

1 year of saving later September 2010 i ordered my frist r/c car mugen mrx5
from kamikaze hobbies.

4 years later i can say as a 8th driver watching the .12 engines race
the engines are more reliable and (knowledge of engine maintenance has increased)
not defending the $$$.$$ of .12 engines.
BUT!
There your Boutique brand names and then there your other brand names,
some spent alot a $$$$$$$$ to get were they are....R&D
some just took the blueprint infront them an improved on it.

now my next car is going to be electric 1/10th,
i can get (2) electric motor/esc combos or (6) electric motors
for the price of one nitro engine only problem is the run time :(:( 5-10min :flaming: charging.........

I never raced 1/8th but I always liked the speed and handling of them, but I'm quite content with my NT1 2008 spec.:cool:

The 1/8th is easier to drive, but if you want to be one of the "fast guys" it requires a lot more skill and commitment. With the sedan once you got your setup right, its not that hard to drive. I used to drive both classes, then money/time intervened and I had to make decision and I stuck to 1/8th. I still miss my sedan, but I get more excitement out of 1/8th, and no, Im not one of the "fast guys", I don't drive often enough to be.

My last race in 1/8 was with a Serpent 950 Nova Mega Ms engine. Also drove a Veteq. The thrill back in 2002-03 with 1/8 was amazing. Then I started in sedan. Love them cause they looked like lil 235mm 2wd sedan which was my all time favorite class to DRIVE. 1/8 always had that spot in my heart. Now after so many years I've decided to go to 1/8th again. I will always love the 200mm class but I won't miss the diffs!

The diffs is another reason why I stopped racing sedan, the big car is so much less work because of the lack of diffs! LOL I guess I got lazy...
