But then again.....if no one complains...does that mean that all is well with the track and how things are run? Sure racers appreciate having these tracks here in So Cal...but that doesn't mean that there can't be improvements on track conditions/classes/entry fees etc. Rick...what is your take on why 1/8 is a shell of what it use to be here in So. Cal? You remember the days of Greater LA when we had D and E mains in 1/8. So why the downturn now? I know you have been watching the postings about Spec class in the other thread. Look at the entry list for 1/8 at this latest race. That's less than a regular club race at some other tracks!! CP runs their onroad races on the 3rd weekend of the month....and have been doing so since the track opened. So why is Rev running the same weekend? I might be wrong but I beleive they are runing the same weekend(someone correct me if I am wrong). With the 2 tracks so close to each other why can't they run differenet weekends. In all fairness......I know which track was running that schedule first. I think that is just 1 of the reasons why 1/8 low turnouts. I'm sure there are others. There seems to be alot of complaints about the traction/lack of traction/or the changing traction conditions at Rev. raceway. But back to complaints....I think the track owner/operator needs to listen to constructive criticism from racers and try to address some of the complaints. Yes there are racers that will always complain no matter what...but at the same time there are legitimate complaints that.....if go unheard might eventually make someone take up another hobby. JMO

I'd like to go Rich...But vacation time at work is a little short. I have to save all my time to go the Nats.

The 960 has been pretty good. It has good steering like you said and the rear in end is planted.

Default My opinion

In my opinion talking directly to a track host is a better approach than public harrasment or bashing. Every time anyone holds a big race they get slammed on the boards. It's amazing anyone is willing to run races.

Regarding why 1:8 seems down lately. I feel there are a lot of big races and you have to pick and choose where and when you run it's just a bit diluted. At the 1:8 regionals at the RAMS club we had 8 heats of 1:8 cars....

As far as scheduling. Both Dana and James are business owners they make the schedule to what they feel is best for thier facilities. They both have phones they can converse anytime.

Well Rick,
We have talked to Dana face to face but he does not like to hear what we have to say. There are allot frustrated racers that would like some things changed but a certain track owner will not listen to them. So Rick, what do you suggest now?

I agree that talking to the owner face to face is the best way as well, but I too have talked to him both times I went to his track. I find Dana to be a very nice guy, with a program that is run decently. The reason I say decently, is that it is not bad and not great. I guess the work good would describe it as well. I always appreciate the food and ample pit space. All of my complaints as well as the ones that all the other complainers seem to have is the way the track is treated/sprayed. I have been there when there are 20 people practicing on friday for Sat quals and then after closing on Friday out comes the VHT. I have heard about several other instances similar to that. I find that absurd.

Yeah, the tire wear is very low, but when you have to run the hardest shore tire, trued down to 56mm to keep a car from traction rolling, tell me how this is good? The tire is worn down to nothing before you even hit the track. What is better: A car that is a little loose and may spin out every once in a while, or a car going 50mph that traction rolls and skids 60ft on its lid before slamming into a wall, fence etc and destroying itself on impact? I can't say I will never go to Revelation again (been there twice) but I won't go often, that is for sure.

On the parts issue. Of course, even the best stocked place may not have the part you want. Have you looked at his inventory. I have a much higher parts fill rate with Rich Taylor and his little trailer. I watched a person pack up and go home, because there was no rear bulkhead available for an MTX3. This part sometimes breaks if you traction roll, which is very common on this track.

Me at the track twice a year????? Please not even close.

Drop the angry attitude support the tracks that support the hobby.

Regarding the Region we have a region director he sets up the regional races. In the end we had 2 good fuel on road regionals. Separating 1:8 scale turned out to be a good thing. 8 heats of 1:8 now that was a fun race.

Thanks for the input though.

Default this has become just you and me

It's time to take this off line. This discussion is just you and me now. I am more than happy to hear your suggestions to improve ROAR and the Regions. Between the argueing and hostility you have a lot of race experience and could provide some great input if focussed in a positive direction. My contact info is on the ROAR website.
