The MTX-6 has been designed with drastic improvements in respects such as steering, traction, durability and overall maintenance.

MTX-6 over view:-Standard issue on the MTX6 are many diverse parts such as: alum rear lower suspension arm* to**mounts, front/rear differential case, front upper arm & arm bracket, front alum bulkhead changesthe 2nd gear pinion and spur gear, high strength front body mount and stronger chassis with manymore new parts that where strengthened too.-A new twin brace system connects to both sides of the 2 speed gear box to the radio plate whichwill almost eliminate flex on the chassis.* This will create better power from the engine to the*drive train.-The MTX6 has improved rigidity around the engine area, smaller holes under the front/reardifferentials which will reduce flex of the chassis and make for better front/rear balance of the car.-The rear bulkhead has new bracing that connects to the 2 speed gear shaft bulkhead and controlsthe twist of both sides of the chassis and improves the efficiency of the whole drive train.-There is a 1mm wider 2nd pinion gear and spur gear for greater durability.-The brake disc is mounted to the 2 speed shaft for more consistent and stronger braking power.-A specially designed front bulkhead to make removal of differential much easier plus an increasein strength.-A new servo saver which will allow for more adjustability for different track condition.-Graphite front/rear shock towers, a new shock spring will greatly improve stability, steering andtraction on all surfaces.-A new clutch spring designed from exotic materials and heat treated to keep constant stabilityin clutch feel over a long periods of racing under high heat temperatures.

Happy they have made some good changes.
Mad they have so many new parts.
I recon the parts to upgrade a 5 will be nearly the price of a new kit..
Oh well let's see.
Wouldn't it be a nice gesture to do an up grade kit what was less the parts separately but less then the price of the full kit...

Yeah the brake on rear axle was likely cool but a mistake on the 5, the leverage point so far back and the pivoting direction of it meaning it contributed a lot to the large amounts of flex on the mtx5.
I remember Rob at one point did mention some of the issues with brake flex never effected him purely because he said he braked very little in 10th scale.

If you look at all the pictures of the MTX6, it's fairly clear what they have aimed for, one being it's been braced in every way possible in stock kit form, both sides have side bracing, and across bracing, two issues said to cause issues on the 5, brake flex is reduced, and then they have done some work up front likely to increase some steering which the 5 lacked at times.

What is more interesting though, is every brace added, looks removable, meaning any could be removed if you want to dial flex back into the car, Rob said not so long ago at some event he was still basically running a stock MTX5 (eluding there was 6 prototypes at the time), because the 5 was still fast, and suited him just fine.

So the reality is, the 5 was/is fast but maybe a little fragile, the new 6 is Mugens effort to make the car more user to user and club friendly.

Of course saying the 5 is fragile is true of a few of the new cars, which all seem to have gone a bit fragile of late, many say the same of the 8th scales now, I'd say we will likely also see a new MRX6 soon, my bets on that will be also brake moving back to the main shaft, and also making it more durable.

I like your explanation about the fact that the vertical lever which activates the brake on MTX5 (because the high, because the length from servo to rear axle) bends a lot the chassis. You are right at 100%.
However, I am not sure this is the reason of the stripping gear problem because the chassis bends always between the radio plate and the clutch. You can make a static test very easily, no need to run, no need to start your engine. First, brake and look where the chassis bends. But the most interesting is this static test : don't brake and turn your clutch with your gears and look how free is your adjustment. Repeat this same operation by braking, so by bending your chassis. You will be very surprise to check that the adjustment stays similar.
What I don't know, it's what happens with the car on the track because the bendings are so numerous during a run and probably in different ways, that may be you are right.
At today, without brace, I don't strip second gears. But for that, I have to follow 2 conditions :
1) the alignment of the engine must to be perfect.
2) your second speed environment (gear, spur and mainly your clutch with the shoes) must to be perfect too. When this environment begins to wear out, in the brakings and the slowings down moments, the second speed will not return enough fast on its posiition "off" and because the first speed will engage, this will break your second spur.
