Most racers have been utilizing diffs with medium/heavy fluid depending on the track conditions. Interest in spools is on an increase now. But I don't know of any 1/10 Nitro racers using one-ways anymore.

Running a spool is good on a tight track...an allows u to keep the stiff stuff in the
Rear..out the corrners r crazy quick an allow for hard excelerations....

Thanks for the valuable info fellas. I remember a few years ago when front spools and front one-ways were the "in thing". Now, it seems like everyone is running diffs with super-duty oils. I have always run front diffs in my cars (my driving style dictated that), just not with such heavy oils as you guys run. Good info to know when I finally get my MTX-6.

If your home track is open an free flowing....a different wit 250k or 300 will work fine...but if the track is tight wit 180s a so call start an stop track...a spool is the ticket or a diff wit 2mill...but u have to adjust the breaks an make setup changes..

You could try cutting the head of a normal screw them cutting grooves of a tuning screw driver but it won't look all that nice..
I can say I have seen anyone selling grub screws..

Hi Guys

just picked up this kit 2nd hand and i`m facing some problems thought you guys might be able to help.

fitted with a nova virtus the car won`t move till it`s at almost full throttle.

and when it does, it doesn`t seem to have a 2nd speed. thing is i`m not sure if it`s running only on 2nd speed not engaging the 1st.

when i throttle, flywheel`s spinning, pinon gears moves. no issue with the spurs either.

when i manually move the belts and gears with my hand, the car moves forward.

what could be the issue? does anyone have a similiar experience? i`ve rebuilt the clutch according to the box settings.

appreciate any help.

thanks

It sounds like your clutch spring nut is too tight. Start it off level like is the instructions. Tighten your 2 speed so you know it starts in 1st gear. You can adjust the 2 speed later. You said this is a second hand car I would check the clutch shoe (Is it worn down)? is your gap .4.to.6 and end play should be close to .1

Hi Thanks for replying.

I`m not familiar with some parts/terms you have mentioned.

I have set my clutch spring nut to box instructions (leveled with the shoe).

Clutch shoe is good. not worn.

the gap that you were mentioning, is it the gap between both clutch shoes?

Where should i tighten my 2 speed? is this on the engine`s side where the pinon gears are?

In your situation, I would tighten the clutch spring down just so you know it on the nut and try it there. "Leveled with the shoe", im not sure how tight that is.

Also if you can hold the first gear with your hand and slowly go up on the throttle to see if the oneway on the first gear is working correctly....if the gear is spinning and the tires aren't turning the oneway gear inside the first gear housing could be bad.

I will try tightening the spring further.

Never occured to me that the gear housing could be bad. will take a look when i got to track in 2 days time and update.

thanks
