Sorry to really disappoint you, but no radio on the market has a range like that....

I've never used the new spektrum radio, but knowing how the distances wireless and cordless phones go, there is no way a spektrum can travel that far

Besides, any radio should be "line of sight" for distance - if you can't see it (or make heads or tails of the car), you've gone too far

there are mixed reactions about the spektrum radio. some like it, some had the worst experience with it. i've had mine (3 of them) since it became available (i preordered mine and got it when it came out to public). two of the 3 worked flawlessly except for the other one. i installed the other one on my buggy and it went full gas for whatever reason. good thing i was only breaking in a brand new motor at that time that the motor was extremely rich. but the other 2, which was installed in my dirt oval car and my sedan worked perfectly. i sent the defective one in and got it back in 2 weeks, no charge at all. now, all of them work flawlessly. there's no comparison to being able to practice whenever you want. no more frequency clips, no more yelling and no more expensive repairs from crashes from guys who tell you "sorry i didn't know your frequency was on". i am not going back

Regular radio can go about 2 football fields. Which is 600ft and at that point I know you can barely see it. So that is kinda pointless.

The new spektrum is working on 2.4Ghz. This is the same sort of frequency range that cell ( mobile ) phones work on so the range will be quite high.

Furthermore the unit operates well above the 300mhz range of mechanicaly generated interfierence so glitches from IC cars should be eliminated.

actually the 2.4G band doesn't have all the great of a length - look at the problems wireless' and cordless phone have...You have a couple hundred feet MAX

and I know what the spektrum runs on...I have one in all my cars and have no issues at all

I would not be able to see the car at 1240...thats a 1/4 of a mile, cant imagine 3000 ft.
