Where is a good place to buy cheap Foam tires for nitro touring?
Thanks,
Tyler

I think RCmart.com has them for 7-8.00 a pair.

nsxshogun 08-22-2005 06:09 PM

In the US you can get them from;
Acehardwarehobbies.com
nitrohouse.com
sheldonshobby.com a few other sites gotta digg some up.

Carry Twister Tires @ great prices with very fast shipping.

fordman500 08-22-2005 06:52 PM

I really do agree with your statement about supporting LHS's,but I wont pay 23.00 plus tax for a set of tires.

sjr456 08-22-2005 06:53 PM

http://www.kinetixrc.com/ is selling Jaco's for $8.99 a pair. Shipping is cheaper than buying overseas, plus you'll get your stuff much quicker.

nsxshogun 08-22-2005 06:56 PM

Buying overseas is ok but the shipping takes much to long.

Artificial-I 08-24-2005 12:04 PM

Cool.

I have a whole box of Twisters that I bought from someone getting out of nitro touring car racing, and I have to say, the wheels are the worst quality that I have seen in a long time. Kinda solft, not very true, they don't fit on the hexes very well, and the axle holes have a lot of mold flashing on them. Not only that, the tires all needed to be trued right out of the box, as none of them were true or balanced at all. In fact, most of them were cupped heavily, from what looks like very rushed and high speed sizing. These were ALL new, out of the box tires, too.

I can't say I would ever buy Twister wheels/tires again, if I had the choice. Even though I don't like the wheels, I'd have to look towards Jaco and GQ for nitro foam.

i think for U.S. Kenetixrc.com and speedsterhobbies.com is the cheapest ive seen for Jaco. plus ive put orders in with my friends and my friend got the order within 2-3 days.

Artificial-I 09-19-2005 07:53 PM

Yeah it seems the US is finally competing with those prices. Ive seen a few sites now with very competitive pricing.

You must have gotten a bad batch or something. I use Twisters and find them to be as good as any tire I have ever used. Many of my friends use them and I don't hear any complaints from them either.

Check them out www.twistertires.com

I agree...I've found for untreated, but blown off asphalt, twister tires have the greatest consistency.......I tried GQ;s.....wAy overated......jacos were OK...but tend to chunk......

Slotmachine 09-20-2005 05:57 AM

I`ve liked GQ Tires from the first time I used them. No broken rims, and hardly ever a chunk. The wear is phenomenal!I will continue to use them.

Artificial-I 09-20-2005 06:54 AM

Yeah I kinda believe each tire has its own characteristics and benefits for each type of track surface.

Ive found the twister tire to be pretty good on a p-lot track which is also pretty much untreated. I notice the rim is a bit more flexy than others and I had two fronts bend on my first batch within2 qualifiers and no memberable wrecks. I do like how the twister tire seems to be two different compounds from front to rear. Seems more rubber like in the rear and foam like in the front.

The jaco nitro shoe seems to be a more durable rim , had some chunking...that might have been prevented If I fixed the trouble spot. Im giving them another chance at my next race.

Jack Rimer 09-20-2005 08:25 AM

All gas rubber is different rubber from front to rear.

xrcbuggy 09-20-2005 01:12 PM

The only bad thing about GQ tire is they are very hard & if you hit the wall or board they bend & they do not return to original shap, so your tire will not run true. I like softer rim, but thst's just me.

Your right. I guess I meant to say its more noticable on the twister tire, even the feel is quite a bit different. Also speaking of that tire , has anyone tried the black star racing tire? They look identical , even the packages except the coloring? Im guessing its the same company?

Artificial-I 10-11-2005 09:45 AM

Anyone? :ha:

Those 3 have some great pricing on foams. The jaco nitro shoes from rcmart are 7 a pair, and I believe with shipping they come to around 9 dollar a pair. Pretty much unbeatable in the states.

But the thought is coming across my mind more and more, that usa rc owners should try to buy and support there local us and local area hobby shops. Cause thats what keeps this world going round...at least in our neck of the woods.

Otherwise we wont have any local support and tracks to run at. As well we wont have local shops to check things out in to get further knowledge or quick parts. Hong Kong isnt the fastest source, which those shops all reside in.

I dont know who runs the tracks in the states but the local shops here have nothing to do with them so supporting the shops wont help with the track.

Its for this reason we dont care if they all go broke. If they did put an effort into supporting the track maybe we would buy stuff from them

That is a pretty naive comment. The shops may not directly support the tracks in your part of the world, but how many new racers do you think you would get without shops? 3 fifths of f$#k all I would suggest. When is the last time RC Mushroom refered a racer to your local track? Without new blood there will be no racing for anyone. You dont have to shop at your LHS but dont wish it were gone.

Back on topic, I usually use Jacos & I have just tried ATS for the first time recently & they look the goods. I dont know if Kyosho or Mugen drivers will appreciate the yellow Serpent rim on the ATS though :sneaky:
