I can't make it out on Sunday Jeff (promised my daughter Disneyland).

But I will be there on Saturday to help Edwin get his "right" car ready for the RD Logics Race. But you can PM or call me anytime for whatever.

Just go to the hobby shop and close your eyes and pick one. Or you can buy all of them and keep the one you like.

Yes exactly- I am looking for particular specs on SPEC class.
Just to use your example, RB off road has 25 degree exhaust and OS has 20, so nobody is permited to raise exhaust on OS, but can I produce engine with 35 degree exhaust port-it is not going to be dremeled-it will be made by that specs? It is no difference in manufacturing to make 20-25-30 etc degree of exhaust so it will be no additional cost-but it will be advanced compare to other readily available engines. About the cranck, let's say average cranck for off-road engine induction is open at 40 ABDC and close at 55 ATDC. Most of modification is done to bring these numbers to better set up to increase power and make power band on desirable way. Now, modding is not pernited, but again if I will make SPEC engine can I initialy design engine with advanced induction? It will not change the price if it is initialy made as designed.
BTW, please check Palmaris racing engine tread in Exclusive nitro zone forum. This is what we are. We make p/l sets, crancks, head buttons etc for existing brands, we produced .12 engine PS12 and now we are on final line to introduce new PR12 engine. We did inveted new technology in Nitro engine history-Bi-metal sleeve construction.
I see that SPEC class has future, so I want to be able to offer to racers our products.
Edward
Edward, after visiting your site, I better understand your interest...If your producing a complete 21 engine, available for the market and it fits the 5-port criteria, displacement / and price points...it would be qualify as a SPEC engine...

Your basic contruction is going to follow the min / max guidlines as permitted by ROAR.......

http://www.roarracing.com/pdfs/2005rules3.21.05.pdf

see section 9.3 Engine Specifications, page 67-68....

For the SPEC class we are proposing a 5-port limit and retail price suggestions.... if your producing an engine from scratch, than YES, you have flexibility with the crankshaft.

NOW: if all your doing is producing piston/sleeve/rod and crankshaft for an engine....adding your product (ie: advanced crankshaft) to an existing engine is considered a modification as it is not the factory setting or factory standand....in addition, someone would have to purchase this product which would exceed the cost limitation...WILL this be difficult to tech, maybe...but is the difference in power going to be that significant to chance it...not in my opinion, I'd rather race in the open class.

I hope this helps

Default 1/8

WOW.....I hope the trading for a Veteq was a joke!! We are all here trying to get some dialog going to try to lower the cost of 1/8 racing. If we do that then maybe here in So Cal......as a start.....1/8 class will flourish again like it did back in the late 90's and early 2000. As stated other regions and tracks around the country are not suffering as we are here with the downturn. There are a few reasons why this has happened....cost is one.....the popularity of sedan is another....I won't state the other as I see it as it will start a firestorm and flaming war even if it's the truth. So let's try to keep it civil even if you disagree with what we in So Cal are trying to do. There is enough political bs and crap going on in other venues of r/c...we don't need it in 1/8. So let's press on with this and if it fails/doesn't take of....then we can say we tried and we move on and hopefully 1/8 won't just go away.

trading the Veteq was a joke, i don't think anyone would want it anyways.

cost was the main thing that kept me from running 1/8th. i am not sure if there will ever have a good way(s) to keep the cost of running 1/8th down but i am willing to try if there were such a class exist.

I am wondering how my engines will be tech? (my own PR12, not moded brand) ( in case if spec class will be for 10th scale too). I need to know so I will be able to produce SPEC motors.
Now, you mentioned about disclimer fee $300-it doesn't sound like to cut the cost.
I am sure you will clear all my question easy.
Thanks
Edward
Hello Edward if your engine meets the criteria we will add it to the list of engines the more the merrier, SPECS should meet the existing SPECS of the off road engines.

Will it be legal if Edward makes a P/S set for 21 engines with 5 ports to run in our motors?
Just curious
