Default I need a cure for tire ballooning?

Hey all,

I'm working a fun project where I'm converting my 747 racer into a replica looking street car—BMW M3 hpi body. Problem is, in order to fit the look I'm going after I need 3mm and 6mm offset wheels and low pro rubber tires. (foams won't cut it). But I know the rubber will balloon at high speeds, ruining my shell and adversely affecting the handling. So for all you creative minds out there, is there anyway I could prevent the tires from ballooning at high speeds?
Thanks in advance.

Fiberglass stranded packing tape on the inside of the tire.

Thanks for the tips, I found a wealth of youtube videos supporting the duck tape idea, but not the fiberglass tape—I'll explore that option further.

Sweep was my initial choice and so I called earlier today, but they told me their tires are 24mm not 26mm. From there I came here.

Kinda excited to replicate this look again:

i got this tip from a friend of mine…

he used braided fishing line…tied and glued the string and voila…no more ballooning…

i thought it was pure genius…too bad i can't take credit for it.

How about belted HPI X-Patterns? They're not super-low profile, but they might do the trick:

Find tire insert that fits the tire, HPI used to have tire inserts in different colors, soft, medium & hard. Use rubber cement that does not dry quickly. Glue insert to the tire. Mount it on rim then cement or Elmer's glue. last CA to bead to the rim. Let dry at least 12 hours. Just Brainstorming it, but it makes sense to me. Ballooning happens when there is nothing but air in it. stuffing anything may become imbalanced. Find a insert that fits the tire.

You might want to try a set of tires that look like this on the inside.....

Vulcanized belts inside of the actual rubber are best for high speeds.

Good luck & have fun!

I think I had those tires before, they come with the rs4. If they are the same, they ballon a bit.

Would vulcanized belts effect the weight much?

Any balancing problems?

not enough for you to notice…gotta get those expensive braided fishing lines though…they don't stretch and once glued with the CA tire glue…they hold up real well…

can't do it to the slicks…but the treaded designs…works like a charm…and u don't even need to tie it…just wrap around twice…and glue…

i tie it cos i don't really care too much about balancing.
