Same here. For club races I use 700 mah li-fe. It will do a half hour main with no problem. For longer races I use reedy 1300 mah li-fe. I would love to get the 1000 mah li-fe (Vapex)that is only sold in the UK.

Pass you soon...

Default Christmas 748 build

Hey guys. Just got a 748 for Christmas ans here is where I am after 2 days of build. I am running into some problems regarding the battery and the throttle set up.

Is it the same one as the 977 battery?

My TQ should arrive next week, we run 2 classes here for 200mm, 1st (which the new TQ will be) class is Gas Tourer, pretty much std EFRA rules except it's a OS TG (0.0128 cu.in/0.7hp) motor & no INS box, it will be a challenge as there's no hints/tips around for using the lower HP motor.

My current 747 will continue to be the front line race car until we sort the new TQ out, then I'll switch it to Pro Tourer (pretty much EFRA 200mm rules).

Any tips on building the new TQ with an aspect to the lower HP engine would be appreciated, also I'm looking for an earlier 748 roller if anybody has one they're considering selling, that way the old reliable 747's can be retired to spare part supplies.

Basically yes however there is more room in the 977 and so larger packs will fit in the 977 like the Protek 2200 lipo which doesn't fit in the 748.

Both the xceed lipo and the reedy life fit nicely in the 748.

To be honest the 748 hasn't really got any vices or issues with the build. Just follow the manual. I don't have any experience in the low HP motor class but I'd probably just start out with the car out of the box but go to 15/21 on the pinions just to give that little engine a chance! Clutch just set it as per the manual - I'm sure you know what you are doing with that from the 747 anyway.

I'd be using the 747 in the low HP class and the 748 TQ in the 200mm touring class straight away. It really is very good out of the box which needs very little sorting! Just remember to run heavier (about twice) oil in the diffs than you are used to on the 747 and you'll be set.

I'll see if I can get a couple of those Vapex 1000 packs. Personally I hadn't heard of them. Thanks lil-bump!

Default Battery?

QUOTE=nitrodude;13742647]Which LIPO is everybody using?[/QUOTE]

If you have digital servos that can handle 7.4V, I use the Venom 1600. It weighs 78g and is 85x30x17mm and fits perfect lowered closer to chassis without touching chassis.

Thank you Dan
I wondered why on the TQ they put in heavier diff oils - should be normal with the new diffs.

Default Novarossi Vir tus. Ceramic bearings factory tuned.

Hey everyone

Question as the Novarossi says its factory tuned, does that mean it is already broken in? If so then it's race ready out of the box?

Thanks again.

No. "Pre-Run" means it has went thru the break-in process(still not 100% broken in may need 2-3 more tanks). All of the high-end Novarossi engines say "Tuned"
