We all have much to thank Gene for. R.C. was not just a business to Gene as he put his heart into the sport and hobby side every chance he got. Gene was always working behind the scenes to make things work better. His efforts on behalf of ROAR are most likely why ROAR is still around. Gene you will be missed.

A true giant of our sport/hobby has left us and he will be very much missed by all.

Besides his contributions to RC, Gene was the creator of what is arguably the most influential slot car in 1/24th scale slot racing history, the first real competitive anglewinder. The basic layout is still the foundation of competitive slot racing chassis almost 50 years later. I still have old Rod and Custom mags around from the mid 60s when they covered slots, static models, karts etc in addition to 1:1 cars, and Gene's articles reporting on the SoCal slot racing scene were classics. RIP Gene Husting.

Thank you for posting the link, it's important for me to sit back and have a good think about who and why the founders of our hobby invested so much of their lives and it elevates the motivation to continue their legacy.

Lest we forget.

Sincerely,

Harry Sinanian
