Just rolled in from the airport from a Nat's that could have had dissapointment from the start. When the Empire Team all showed up, we heard the forecast was to be rain all days that we were there. Fortunately, the weather guys were completely wrong. It was sunny with broken clouds and about 80 all week. I thought that the track was a real nice facility, but the track opperaters could have communicated with Roar before hand on the program they wanted to run. So when we got there, some of the ideas and concepts had to be ironed out. Racers expected rocket rounds and 6 qual's, but instead we got Qual Points, 5 rounds, best 2 out of 5 and a xmas tree main system that was on the table to be tried out for '06 Nat's. I have a feeling that at least half were confused enough that they were not able to come up with a decent question to aid in their confusion. But in the end, everything did come together. The bar code idea to get your practice laps was a very cool idea. There were some outstanding driving preformances. Some amazing crashes. An abundant amount of laughter and enjoyment. I had a good time. There were some scoring set backs and some main starting technique problems, but in the end, 3 Nationals Champions were crowned. Each drove amazing races and earned the title. Josh, Harry and Mike... "you did good! Congrat's" Once again, the Nat's wound up being the proving grounds of man and machine. What looked like a sure deal, proved otherwise. It was also great to see the rise of "new blood" in the ranks of a dominated veteran game. In the end, I did have a good time at Kissimmee Raceway.

First of all I would like to say I had a Blast at the Nats for the most part...

I would like to thank the crew at Kissimee for a great facility..and geat traction...

I would also like to thank Paulo and Johnny from Serpent USA for providing me with a great car to be competitve with after such a long time away from 1/8th racing....

I would also like to thank Michael Salven for the help and the conversations we had during the event....you really learn alot from people like him...

To Chris V,Ryan,Karl M,Brandon M ,Jared thank you also for your help...

and last but not least to Scott K. for bringing the eye candy...lol

I would love to race 1/8th more but I have so little time due to all the electric racing these days...but only time will tell I may be at more races this next year(I hope)...

Congatulations to Josh, Harry, and Mike for their wins.....and they say that the fastest car doesnt always win...well in 1/8th open Mike was the fastest all week and he won in convincing fashion....

well until next time,

Barry

The race report is now finished, and posted at SGrid Online. If I forgot to create an account for anyone who either signed up, or who I said I'd fix things up for them, please send me an email by tomorrow afternoon.

There's one "eye candy" photo up right now - the rest will be posted tomorrow. Photos of Barry, Mikey, Josh, Scott... heck, just about everyone, should be up sometime tomorrow. http://www.sgrid.com

Sherry Noth - Scott Kimbrow brought along his own trophy girl!

There are about ten photos of Sherry - I'll have the rest of them posted tomorrow, along with the toy car pix! :-)

In the main I think the throttle servo let go. Car was good at the start but as the race went on the brakes went away till they were almost completely gone.

I had a great time. The track was awesome. I got to meet a lot of people and learn a lot of things. Not sure about the Fusion Race yet, I'm a little tired.

No problem on the help Barry. You definitely made the event fun at times. You even made the flight home for Brian T. intresting.

The best thing about these races is meeting a bunch of great new people.

See you all next year.
