Default HPI Super Nitro RS4 Project

Hey guys,

Recently got back into the RC hobby, and I have an old HPI Super Nitro RS4 (300mm wheel base) that I'm trying to bring back to life. Was just wondering what kind of engine/header/pipe would fit it. What would be the best? Having a tough time finding the parts, so any tips/advice on what to purchase and where I can find it is greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

One of the better engines to use is the OS 18CV or 18TZ series. They are bolt right in with no mods to chassis or engine mounts. Very easy to break in and tune and good on fuel consumption. You could shoehorn a .21 into the car but will have to do some mods and have plenty of clutch shoes and gears that you will tear up with the extra power. You could also just go with any of the new .12 engines are modded that have tons of power now (some are just as fast as some .21s). Pipes are like always, just have to find the right one to fit the engine that you choose. Hope this info helps.

Gulf colors on a Diablo GT. Nice! I kinda miss my Super NRS4 with its big Diablo and Viper bodies but then I fire up my WR8 3.0 and forget all about it. Things have come a long way since then. Still have my original NRS4 though.

I too would use an OS 18 series. I'd rather drive than tinker with an engine. At least you don't have the two-speed. I always thought that was where I went wrong with mine. That plus the NitroStar .15 SS made the thing nearly uncontrollable with those slicks. The WR8 series has drift and rally tires available that might fit. They won't be as wide but man they grip so much better.

A very nice 12 or 18 with threaded shaft would be your best bet since they have enough RPM to get you going and as stated above are direct drop ins. On the other hand, I opted to drop a 21 in my super and there were no modifications done to the chassis. Wolfpack radicals made custom mounts and other parts for these cars a few years ago and from my understanding, he still has a few parts around that he'll get rid off. I also have a 21 in my smaller Racer2 and its a beast. Here's my super with a Kangaroo 21 and 1/8 scale wheels all the way around.
