With the huge range out there I was wondering if anyone out there could recommend a engine for me....

Chasing a IFMAR Legal .12

The current engines I'm looking at are the Novarossi:
RR12L3
NSR12S3
N12LS3
Which of these would be best, I understand the RR12L3 is suited to small tight tracks which is suited to my home track, I'm also looking for an engine suited to running at Brendale (IFMAR 2006 Worlds Track) 2nd home track

I've also been looking at the JP and Sirio but have heard the Sirio is quick but lacks durability, I like the JP but the price is a bit steep.

Basically looking to purchase 2 engines initially, must be quick, reliable and relatively cheap

From what I heard the OS TZ made 1.8hp in a recent dyno. You can find these motors for $190 shipped. Take that to any engine modifier and im sure you could take flight.

Personaly i would go the NSR12S3 as brendale is a bit of a horse power track. And even though your track is tight you can always richen the hs needle up if it is too toey for your track. I recently raced at brendale with an older RB concepts X12 engine and found that at a club day it wasnt the far off the fastest guy down the back straight. But in saying that if you are going to race at the QLD's you will not be able to go past the JP.

The new .12 TZ 5 prt made 1.85 in a recent dyno in rcdriver. I think itll show its face much more in santioned events.

Go with the OS 12TZ 3port... you cant go wrong with it......takes no time to break it in and easy to tune..... and idles forever.....plus a rebuild for that engine only costs $75......compared to the price of the others.....plus you can get it modded at EBMods....

I would recommend OS .12 TZ 3 or 5 ports. For the price of less than $190 shipped, there is nothing to complain. If you are willing to spend a bit more, I would get RR12L3. I know NovaRossi come out of new engines. I don't see anyone saying there is a big improvement.

TZ 3-port cant go wrong. I would match this engine against the best novarossi has to offer.

See you at SMA on sunday! i want to see what all the Hype is about with the TZ. I hope it's not over rated because i remember a similar craze happening when the TR came out and you could hardly call that fast!!

RB make great engines, as do Novarossi! Extrememly fast, reliable, hold tune, and very durable.

Are JP engines worth thier price, i was just browsin around and see how expensive they are? I see a jp 5 port modified for 390 and a movarossi n12ll5 for 299 on the same site? there is also a jp full option and modifed here for 460. Thats ALOT for an engine, but how much better is it than other companies engines.

They proablly are worth the 460. But for that ammount they better be already professionally tuned and broken in from the factory. It should be like bently motors where there is a lock on them so you can't open them or tune them. And they better be able to run for a good 4 gallons without showing any signs of dying. I wish

I can garantee you 1 thing, you can never tell the different between the OS 12 TZ 3 ports versus a $460 Mod Nova Rossi on a 200'-0" or less straight track....
Find out how big is your track before you hand out the $460....if your track is short and small, there is NO WAY you can use that $460 power, like you have to hit the brake before the real horse power kicks in, then what is the point to get the extra HP? Like driving a Ferrari on 5th Avenue around 5:00pm, a 90 years old grandpa walk faster then the Ferrari.
I have seen the 12TZ in action, I would say it does worth the $190, and it does run as fast as those big boys on certain track, but I would not say it will take out all those Nova Rossi, Mugen, Rody, JP..........when it comes to the big track like Hamilton, those ($460 engines) are the big power house of engines for those track.
