Hello!
Today is the start of the 2005 1/8th Gas Onroad European Championships in Athens, Greece.

The event takes place in an amazing facility in one of the worlds largest track for r/c cars. On the straight the cars reach speeds of more than 128 km/hr (80mph).
The actual race starts on Thursday and on Sunday is the main final.
The best drivers in Europe, most of them are also in the top 10 of the worlds best drivers, including current world Champion Lamberto Collari will attend the race.
Also current European Champion and former World Champion Andrien Bertin as well as Daniele Ielasi, David Spashett, Michael Salven, Massimo Fantini, and many more..
I will attend the race onThursday. Since I will be the announcer of the event, I donīt think I will have much time to get any photos, but if I do I will surely post them here as well as inform you of any news...

Just got back from the track. The weather is great. It was very warm today at 36 degrees celcius but tomorrow and until Sunday it is going to be cooler.
At the moment the new 960 Serpent cars look very stable and both Rick V and Michael Salven are doing very consistant fast laps at 20.020 - 20.300. Also Christensen from Denmark was laping near 20 flat with his MRX4.
The most impressive performance was from Iellasi who did a run with many laps in the range of 19.720-19.780. His car does not look as stable as the 960's but it is very aggressive and dives in the turns with a lot of speed.

The shocks are like that because most of the weight is on the bottom.

Today was registration day and more free practice.
The weather was similar to yesterday's with temp. at 35-36 degrees celcius.
Drivers were mostly setting up their cars for the long runs of the finals as they stayed out on the track for 5-6 fuel tanks non stop. The were most likely checking tyre wear, engine performance and fuel consumption.
Top speed today was around 113 km/hr. They could go faster but they tune the engines with a bit more conservative fuel consumption in order to make the 5 minute run.
Racers missing from this event are:
Massimo Fantini
Lamberto Collari
Andrien Bertin
David Spashett
The reason is not known but rumors are that most of them are in Italy at the Messina track where the Worlds will be held later this summer.
Ielasi is still the fastest driver. He seems to have an excellent car and he is very happy with his performance so far. It is really amazing to watch him how well he controls his car. He made some breathtaking movers at places in the racetrack where you'd think that it is impossible to pass.

It's very nice of to do the coverage of the enitre event keep up the good work
It would also be nice od someone could do the coverage of the upcoming worlds in Messina italy with videos aswell (asking to much)
I've noticed Ielasi MRX4 looks like it has the new range of FAST tires, the shape looks similar to the ones of the MTX3 but yellow i still would prefer them in white
Does anyone know any info when these new tires will be released to the public?
Regards
