Fuel gone bad?????

Hi again guys,

Ok here`s my new problem. :p

have left my fuel for about 1 month untouched in an environment which is cold at night under air-conditioning, and room temperature during the day.

I can finally run my car again, but noticed the smell of my fuel a little different.

HAs is gone bad? will fuel go bad?

Thanks again guys!

Cheers!!

More than likely the smell is coming from the engine. The old oil has to burn off. By time you get to your second or third tank the new smell should go away.

If the engine is running without any probs, your fuel should be fine.
If fuel has been sitting for any length of time I usually invert the container a couple of times prior to filling the car to ensure that the castor/synthetic oils etc havent settled over time and are right thru the fuel mix.
Cheers

some fuels change color when they go "off" :tire:

Thanks guys.

My car performed fine.

the smell that was different was from the fuel itself when i was transfering it.

What do u mean change colour when it`s off? what do u mean by that? 'off' means bad??

take for instance odonnell fuel.. it is normally clear, but when it starts absorbing moisture it turns yellowish in color.

Ok thanks guys.

Is there such a thing as fuel going bad? like for instance, i believe my fuel has absorbed alot of moisture. That`s definitly not good, but how would u guys determine when it`s bad?

If you can't get the car to run right try a quart of new fuel. If it start to run right then it was the fuel.

Difficulty starting is a sure fire indication of bad fuel.......as is flaming out after a couple of laps.

Here in the Netherlands a lot of racers use 'tornado' fuel, which is slightly yellowish in color. When it goes bad its color becomes darker (more yellow).
