Unhappy

Hello serpent 960 driver, I've ordered mine and should be arrive to me by next week. The reason for me to switch to serpent from mugen is my buddy drove one and i tried it once for the weekend and found out that this car is awsome, Should give serpent two thumbs up for it. By the way, can anyone tell me how to change my user name as i will be in this thread as long as i still own the 960 cause is kind a strange for mrx to be discussing serpent 960 here.

I think you just need to PM a request to one of the mods.

why do you care about your "forum name" ?
it is the text inside the forum that counts :P

i heard sevral times that the shaft 2-speed(#903116)broke....is it a problem on the first model of 960 or it is a real problem
if it is only for the first series,is ther a serial number to know if i hace a bad shaft or not?

i ask you because i bought my car in USA,and in France it is not the same distributor

I don't know if there is a serial number that you can refer to, but the suspect layshaft is easy to identify. Early batches had a layshaft that has 2 flatspots on BOTH sides (close to each other ; total of 4)... those are the layshafts that break. The more recent version of the layshaft has the 2 flatspots on one side only.

Hope this helps.

Regards,

The newer version of the 2-speed shaft never breaks. You will not have a problem with the one with flats on only one side.

Any of you guys looking to try a new body I just tried the serpent evo 3 body last weekend. It had lots of steering and made the car feel more stable, I like it very much
