I believe 4wd could possibly catch on over here in the USA. Because we don't have very many onroad tracks to run on but we do have parking lots. I do believe that we would need 2 seperate classes one for 4wd and one for 2wd. But 2wd cars tend to need a prepared race surface to run on they tend not to handle very well on unprepared dusty parking lot surfaces. If the demand for 4wd continues to increase I believe other manufactors will start making 1/5 scale onroad cars 4wd and some of those manufactors are going to start making real 4wd race cars. I can't wait until that happens a full blown 4wd race car !!!

Two classes are the key. 2wd and 4wd are different breeds, thus should be run separate. But, I have an idea, if you guys hear me out. When I helped get 8th scale GT started with the Texas SWCS series in 2009, the rules put in place then called for an open and a spec engine class that were to run separate. We never had enough that first year to run as two separate classes but what we did was run it LeMans style. We ran both classes together, scoring open and spec separate but we also had an overall class winner. The first couple of races, I won both the spec and overall class trophies. But, we as a group, talked about doing it this way and agreed before putting it into action. We had a lot of fun racing GT that year before attendance petered out by season end.

So, if we can get something organized and don't have enough to run separate, would anyone object to doing it LeMans-style until participation grows?

If the people agree to race what ya bring sure go for it until you get enough people involved to set up seperate classes.

Question for you, "Didn't they use to race 5th scale cars in central/south Florida back in the late 1990s/early 2000s?" I was wondering because I use to remember that Central Florida Hobbies (Mr. Harkey) use to sell 5th scales and participated in a few races back then. I know that there were a bunch of guys that had 5th scale cars back then (use to vacation there alot during that time) and it would be nice to entice a few of them to get back into the game.

Got the 5th scale fund started. A little Christmas bonus from the job kicked it off. Working on getting the touring car first, the F1 second. Can't wait to get the first one in my stable and learn the car.

Got to get the car(s) in hand first before I can put together some presentations. It is like being a vacuum cleaner salesman without a vacuum to demonstrate. I have to stop drooling over the website until it is time to press the button to make that first purchase.
