Is that belt smaller (optional) ? bc i know kawaharas makes a belt and pulleys, but if the conversion can be done with the stock pulleys then by all means... pleace confirm and clarify.

yes the belt is smaller. so the stock mugen 1 wont work, i dont no if mugen makes a belt for the 16/19 but i no kawaharas makes 1 for it.

It can be done by buying a stock pulley set. All you really need is the 16t, but it's still cheaper than buying one of the Aluminum Kawahara ones. The belt you need is the shorter one. I've used the ones on Ebay with good success.

Then a couple of weeks ago, I looked up at the wall of parts and saw Traxxas' side belt for the Nitro 4-tec. "What the heck, let me try it out" I thought-perfect fit! The only thing is that it is a little stiff- it's a little thicker than Mugen's stock side belt. The next weekend while at the track, I compared it to the one that is sold on E-Bay (another racer had one) and the quality of the teeth on the belt did not look as good as on the Traxxas belt.

I don't have the part # handy, but I'll post it as soon as I get back to work later this week. Your LHS should be able to look it up and order one for you.

Like I said, it's a bit stiffer than Mugen's stock belt, but until Mugen Racing get Kawahara's low friction conversion belt back in stock it will have to do.

The part # is #4863
Traxxas belt is 121 Teeth, if belt is to stiff, soak in WD-40 for 24 to 48 hrs.

I was forced to use the traxxas belt when pipe wire burnt up my side belt and the hobbyshop had no mugen parts. I remember grinder or someone on here saying it worked so i bought the 4tec belt and tried it along with the conversion. First thing that came to mind was how tight as crap it was and how difficult it was to put on. The quality of the belt didnt look that great either.

Nope the belt is smaller, but why would you want to? The 4tec belt is crap compared to the stock mugen belt and around the same price.
