Default Have to fully closed gap in order to get good idle????

Hi all,

I just bought the Novarossi 5 port engine and borken in with 5 tanks. Engine is running good and keeping it at around 200 degree during break-in period. But i have a question about idle setting. The engine idle fine but when i look at the gap clearence. It is fully closed. This is my second engine and i remember that usually there is around 0.1mm gap for idleing. The engine should flame out if fuly closed because no air in but that is what i have set now to have the engine in good idle. WHY? The engine rev very very high if i set 0.1mm gap. Did i do anything wrong or just let it closed completely when is idle?

Thanks

The restrictor is probably making it look like the carb is completely closed, but if removed you will probably see a bigger opening.

I don't see any restrictor AROUND the cab. Is that possible the cab fully closed to idle?

If your carb has a plastic insert in the throat it may appear to have no gap. If your carb has no insert and is fully closed you have a problem.

The restrictor would be colored (purple, blue, black, etc)

So if you dont see any of that, then there is no restrictor in the carb

This thing ain't work and cost too much to try out. The V-one-RR conversion works much better, though.

If you carefully twist and lift the insert out you will find that the gap is obscured but still there.
