What is the point of this 16-19 conversion? And turning the tires down?

The point to it is that running the stock side pulley conf. 24/19 Eats the rear tires very fast and just in my brief few months experience the car tends to spinout more. The conv. Puts more power to the front tires so they wear more even although the rears still wear faster but after a long main your tires will be evenly worn and the car will be handling very well still. From my experience with this setup the sweet spot seems to be in the 2mm split range but for racing purposes with the front oneway it just isn't going to wear that way.I am just beginning to develop any style more than none at all. The conv. allows me to pull through turns on power the more the better to keep from spinning out. More trigger happy less steering cautious. The people here who know how to drive alot better then I like it and recommend it i tried it I like it I feel more at ease running without braking now. I looked at it this way. Its a Cheap and inexpensive
Conv. and its a performance enhancing hop up so its worth alot more then pretty alum parts that just look cool. The whole thing runs less then $20 and less then 5 mins. to setup.Just my Views on it.

You need to get the mugen pulley parts bag ( part # T0221). All of the pulleys come in the bag. They are exactly the same pulleys that are on your car stock. There is a 16t pulley in there so you want to take the 19t pulley you have in the rear (left side of car) and put that in the front to take the place of the 24t pulley. Then the 16t pulley you get from the pulley parts bag and put that on the rear. Then you need to get a new belt because the stock belt is too long.

There is a thread here in the for sale section that has the belt you will need to finish this conversion. Hope this helps....If I have left something out, anyone please post.

since the front tires are now smaller, you need to adjust the ride height, when you rise the ride height you will decrese the droop when the down stop is un-touched, so you should check to see if you have the same droop as your previous setting.

I have not run the conversion myself yet
but if you are running tires up front that are 4mm smaller than
the rear, you would need to increase the ride height by 2mm in the front in order to keep the ride height at say 4.5mm and when you increase the ride height by 2mm you then lose 2mm of droop
so your droop should now be 2mm more (2mm closer to 0)

sorry but thats is wrong!

droop does NOT alter with tyre wear, only ride height!and ride height will not alter droop!
think about it take off your shocks and put your car on hudy droop blocks and gauge and your droop is set say 4mm at rear put shocks on and it will still be 4mm even if you crank spring spacers down!

Here's another trick. Get the aluminum 16t pulley and install it in the stock position. This allows for a couple of things. (1)You can then take the stock plastic 16t and use for the conversion. The pulleys tend to take a little more abuse from rocks sticking out on the side belt, so the plastic is cheaper to replace. (2)Also, putting the aluminum pulley on the mid shaft allows you to run an MRX-3 front belt on the MTX-3. The MRX belt is wider and stronger, thus lasting longer.

Why do you have to run a smaller front tire with a pulley change??? Are all you guys running this setup?

to run with a smaller front tire is the purpose of 16/19T conversion.
