Sorry guys, I said that the NTC3 revolutionised the way that 200mm cars LOOK.

I was responding to Modellor who said:

I know that the cars are changing now but in about 18 months a new car will be on the market that will revolutionise the way 200mm nitro cars look.
You guys need to read the posts more closely The NTC3 sure does look different, like a buggy or something.

Anyways back to the Mugens Sorry Manticore

According to Steve Pond (rcaction.com) who has some extra information about the MTX-3, here is a quote :

Quote:
A new low-CG and central battery mounting position keeps the weight of the receiver pack as low to the ground as possible.
* The steering servo is now mounted flat on the chassis like the MRX-3 for the lowest possible CG.
* The rear suspension is redesigned for more appropriate roll-center geometry.
* A two-speed clutch-type two-speed transmission is designed specifically to shift more consistently and is considerably lighter than the optional clutch type-two speed used on the 1/8 cars at the time. This reduces rotating mass and greatly improves acceleration.
* All the hubs are designed to fit a wider variety of wheels.
* Fully and quickly adjustable Centax-style clutch.
* Front blade-type and standard rear anti-roll bars are included.
* Graphite shock towers included front and rear.
* All suspension geometry redesigned for increased tuning options related to the use of foam tires.
* Heavy-duty ventilated brake disc design from 1/8 car incorporated into the MTX-3.
* Steering bellcrank has a built-in, adjustable servo saver, elminating the need for a weak, non-adjustable servo mounted version.
So it looks like the fuss about 'special' tyres for the MTX-3 could be wrong

So I take it there's no problem with the wheels? Just Mugen trying to scare everyone into buying Fast foams?

GRP are the initials of an Italian company that makes a lot of the foam tires that you can buy. I believe they make Ellegi, Fast, Treadz, and Best foam tires. I'm sure there are more.

What you need to be aware of for your car is, what is the stock offset of the wheels? 0mm? 2mm? other? If you follow what's stock you most likely will have no problems fitting the wheels onto your car. One exception is if you go wider than stock, say 30+mm in the rear with stock upright configuration meant for 26 mm wheels. Also check with people here and other forums that have your car on what works and what doesn't. Sometimes a simple question will save you some frustration and $$.

BTW GRP is Gandini Racing Production

Default GRP

They also make the new TRC's (dish wheels). Saw them yesterday at my local hobby shop. Kind of an ugly yellowish wheel.

Ripped from the Mugen Japan website:

Quote:
Tire w/wheel will be released by GRP Fast tire brand specially for MTX-3. But, the other tire (FVX4,5 and FVW4,6) also can be used.

Got to see a couple of the Team Mugen drivers practicing for the Worlds today, no MTX-3's. Bummer! These where local boys though, I didn't see any out of towners yet. Maybe theres still hope!
