yes, it does fit including the engine mount. you need to use mugen pinion as mugen has smaller pinion diameter !

Default Differences between Nova engines.

The main difference between Nova RS12S1 and the S3 version is very simple:
- Piston is cast and then machined on the S1 version.
- Piston comes from a solid billet of aluminium on the S3 version.

If you look to the inner side of the pistons you can see the main differences. By the external side seems that S1 only have one oil groove versus 2 oil grooves on the S3.

Alternatively, S1 and S3 had different crank timings, that's why people reported that S3 are quicker than S1 engines.

As final words, you can put an S3 P/S on your S1 engine, all parts are interchangeable (Mugen MR12 and RB X12 too).

Regarding S2, have heard something about this, but never saw one. Sorry cannot say anything about those engine.

I think I will stick to the Mugen oil to save coffusion
Mugen fluids for the first time assembly are fine, but their silicones thin with little time installed. Switched from a 600 from Mugen to a 60wt from Associated and went fine. The same did for the differential oil, put a 10K oil from a reputable silicone supplier (Nuova Faor) cheaper and their fluid stay at the same.

Doesn't matter the difference of diameter, main and interesting thing is the head can seat properly on the button to transfer heat.

Dirtly little trick: If you have access to a milling shop, ask for them to deck the internal side of the head to promote better contact with head and button.
