Default 1st Problem

Hi Guys,

I had the 3 out today for a good spin.

It was the first time I had opened her up on my local track.

The 2 speed clutch bell (TO236) bearing started to work loose causing the 43T & 47T gears to touch. There's normally a gap between them.

Has anybody else experienced this?

I'm going to try thread lock or a small tap with a center punch on the outer clutch bearing housing to try & stop it from moving.

Overall the car handles extremly well. I was trying different combos of rubber tyres which worked quite well on a COLD Irish morning.

All the best

Hi Mark,

Not sure. I'm also involved in running a Supermoto team so I'm sure some of the dates will clash.

My local track is also running a championship.

I might make a few rounds in Saint Annes Park, they have a nice track built for 1/8th but I think they plan on making some modifications to the track this year.

I'm sure out paths will cross at some stage!!

Naaaah 1/5 scalers are for those people on their declive of capabilities Today, since yesterday lost a dogbone (sheeesh!) and couldn't find it on the track went to the track with my 1/8 scale to do 'some hands'.

Some people were there with their 'autobuses' almost all were Technokit 99E and a lonely FG Comp cars, got some laps with one of them and are quite different to drive (are quite picky due to their weight and inertia) but very funny to pass them on the backstraight making a little slalom

Just a word of caution.... a lighter flywheel can means faster accelerations, but can means too a harsher idle and some difficulties on getting a decent idle for the engine, thus a slightly difficult to tune engines.

Be warned before lightening a flywheel, can drive you crazy tunning your engines.

yeah sure...

heres Mike Meyers(Serpents reporter) on the Starting Grid forums....

There will be a lot more information in my article on the Winternats,
but I had a long conversation with Barry Friday night in his hotel
room. Basically, Barryh told me that he was here by himself, "a team
of one", and that while he only qualified 4th, he was convinced that he
had the best car at the event, in no small part to Steve O'Donnell. Of
course, me, listening to what a lot of people said, wondered how much
of what Barry was telling me was "hype" and how much was true. Barry
sure did sound very convincing though.

I wasn't at the event during qualifying. When I arrived, I heard
stories of how Kenji's car was so fast that people were sure it would
fail the tech inspection - but it was completely legal! Barry
meanwhile was telling me not to pay that much attention to qualifying,
but to consider that he had a car that worked great, and more
horsepower than anyone knew of, based on qualifying.

In the Main, for whatever reason, Barry "owned" the 200mm class just as
surely as Michael Salven "owned" the 1/8 4WD class. As nothing other
than an observer, I expected to see Kenji take off to a big lead,
fighting off Ralph. Those two (as I saw it) were the experts in this
class, and while Ralph had a rough time in qualifying, he was plenty
fast, and plenty good on the Ft. Myers track. Barry had so many things
going against him - I don't think he's raced very much at Ft. Myers, he
had no pit crew, no team of mechanics, no nothing. What he does have,
is incredible talent as a racer, and his car seemed to work as well as
at the World's.

Now,I know you're sick of hearing about the team......But from the looks of the article, there was no TEAM ....Just a incredible race driver....and an incredible car....

Had enough yet?....

I like Mike Meyers, if it wasn't for his reporting we would still be waiting for the results of the race but.... Barry owned 200mm!? PLEASE! According to the results, Kenji was what? 3 seconds behind after a 45minute main. I don't know about you, but that's now owning anyone.

Even Salven in 8th scale. He finished two laps ahead of second place after running 200+ laps. That's not owning or domination a race either.
