The stock spool uses a mini spool (if that's the right name) inside the standard front diff it's you replace the pinions with the solid plastic center. I understand that they can be a little hard on the front belts though.

Default Keeping with the MTX-3

Well, after getting back into gas racing after many years off, a fellow racer sold me a used MTX-3 last year. I ran it a few times and had great fun. I've been running it this year and doing better all the time.

Like others have posted, the car really takes hits and really does not break much. I've thought about a new car, but since I can run with racers with the new X-ray car and I'm only down 1 lap in qualifying to the fast guys running the MTX-4.

I'll probably run the car through the end of this year and maybe into next year and then see about an upgrade.

To all that are running the car, I have the Robby Collins article and should be able to scan it for anyone who is interested.

I'd like some set ups that anyone is running.

Must be the balls inside 2speed clutch get jammed. You need to rebuild the 2speed clutch.

Default Brand new MTX3

My local hobby shop is trying to get rid of a Mugen MTX3 kit which is brand new. The hobby shop is in Kitchener, Ontario, Canada. They're asking $375 CDN no tax. Maybe somebody is interested in this. Maybe you can bargain an even better price. Call them if you want at 519-742-7141. The hobby shop's name is "Flite Craft Model".

K i found the problem. One of the balls in the two speed shattered. Do i have to change the shoes, because i am low on parts where i am now. Will the Kyosho balls from the RRR's 2 speed fit?

I'll get it scanned in the next few days and either e-mail it to you or have it so it can be downloaded off this site.

The MTX3 2 speed is the same as the MTX4 so parts should not be that hard to get.

Default 2 speed

You need to put new shoes and if the hub has any wear replace it also.

Well...I love my MTX-3! bought it used 3years ago and still running it! I also run TM G4S but still feel better with the MTX-3. The only problem is that I can't run the MTX3 on the big track. Some how it top out half way though the track.

I planing on Racing it in GLC Toledo. I wonder if I can chage the whole pinion and sper set to MTX4. If so, what gear shold I use.

That's kinda of odd most people will tell you the MTX-3(pro-spec) was over geared for most tracks. The shortest gearing that can be used for the MTX-3 is taller than the tallest gear for an MTX-4. You can not use the pinion combo from the x4 and use it on the x3. The 4 has a totally different internal gearing. I would take a closer look at your transmission. hope this helps. Take a look at the mtx-4 knowledge base it explains the difference between the MTX-3 and MTX-4 gear ratios
