I heard from my Mugen seller that Mugen Seiki Japan is stop producing spare parts for MTX3 ??? Why ??

I still need rear bulkheads and I love to race my MTX3 ( even I have MTX4 or G4S ).

Default Mugen MTX3

Nitrohouse.com has plenty of MTX3 parts in stock.
I still run mine everyweekend, and have never had a problem getting parts through them or AceHardware Hobbies.

Yes, very true. As a matter of fact, Mugen had stopped producing the MTX3 parts long ago.... I've to order parts from overseas rc stores. I guess I have to keep some stock before they are all gone.

But do take note that 10 - 20% of MTX3 parts are interchangeable with the MTX4's...

Does anyone have an actual list of the parts that are interchangeable between the mtx3 and 4?

When I switch to the .8 pitch gears can I buy the same size(# of teeth) or do I have to change them?

You will have to get new gears. The .8 is a finer pitch than the other ones. The .8 also does not go low enough like the less finer pitch gears. How ever if you change out the endbell you use the gears from the MTX-4 as well.

at www.mugenseiki.com you can download parts list for both tourers, and then compare which parts are identical.

So if I'm running stock 16T/20T clutch gears and 43T/47T spur gears.Which teeth count should I buy in .8 pitch gears?

Mark,

They are the 1.0 Pitch gears you are using which are the original gears and the same as I use with my stock MTX-3. The list below are the rest of the gears that can be purchased from rc-champ adviser on this forum with the 1.0 pitch.

Brett

1 x T0227, 2ND GEAR 44T Discounted price 252Yen
1 x T0707, PINION 1ST GEAR 15T Discounted price 672Yen
1 x T0709, PINION 1ST GEAR 17T Discounted price 672Yen
1 x T0710, PINION 2ND GEAR 19T Discounted price 756Yen
1 x T0712, PINION 2ND GEAR 21T Discounted price 756Yen

Yes I know that but I want to convert it to the 0.8 pitch gears..And I don't know what gear ratio to start with..

I think that if you go to the Mugen web site that they have a gear chart that you can download..

Can anyone tell me why the .8 gears are better than the 1.0?
I can only assume it is because there is a better range of ratios to choose from but have heard from friends that they cause less friction and dont chew out as easy?
I am using the 1.0 gears and haven't had a problem this whole season except 2nd gear has a little more play than 1st because of the violent gear change with the STS motor.

Cheers,
Brett

Brett the idea of the .8 module gears it as you said a finer pitch there for less resistance, and yes they have a better range of ratios.

Wow, I didn't realize they weren't making parts anymore.

If anyone needs a "parts car," I still have a roller in my closet that i'd sell within the US lower 48.
