Default Spur Gear on RS4 3 2 Speed not turning

Hello, I own a RS4 3 and it has a 2 speed tranny which is 18T and 22T.... The Thing is when the car is off the ground and when I turned by hand the biggest spur 22T 4 wheels are turning but when I turned the lowest Spur 18T it just spin freely its like its not connected to the speed gear shaft without the 4 wheels moving. I look at the manual over and over and rebuild the whole tranny and I'm not missing anything, is this normal?

That is because it is not connected to the shaft, that is the second gear of the two speed and will not turn the shaft untill the 1st gear spins fast enough to open the two speed shoes. Sounds like it's working like it should be, good luck!

once you install the engine it will no longer spin freely without turning the wheels...

the 18t and 22t are pinion and not spur's. Since the car is off it shouldnt turn the wheels anyways. Its only a problem if the car is on. Puple gears = Pinions Big Black ones= Spurs and your spurs and 47 1st gear 43 2nd gear
