Both of the tracks are closing very soon due to the lack of racers. Any ideas on what happened, or what could be done would be helpfull. It seems that there are about 10- 15 people that will race electric carpet this year. Soon the closest track to Atlanta (one of the biggest cities in the country) will be Kissimmee which is a 6 hour drive. If we could get all the parking lot bashers to race (which they won't, as we have tried) we could probably have a good croud again, but it's too late.
Hi Uriah,

sorry to hear that it didn't get any better since I left.

Here are my thought on what's happening:

1.) Shelley with his stupid Kindergarden politics killed the Bowl, no matter what people tell me about expenses or other tracks in the area. If it was about money, the guys wouldn't run off road either.

2.)When you and Nick got faster and faster and started going to tracks in Florida, you pulled a lot of the regulars with you. Nobody to blame, that's just how it was. Everybody else wjo didn't want to travel that far had nobody to race with. How often did I drive 2 hours to the bowl to meet 2-3 people.

3.) One fundamental problem in the US are the commercial tracks. They are there to make money. If they don't they are shut down.
Over here, the permanent tracks are all club owned, so even if racing is slow, the track won't be levelled into a parking lot.
Our hobby always has ups and downs, but a business man who is trying to make money off a track, often doesn't have the stamina to endure the downs.

Btw, I just broke out my good ol' MTX3 since I found a track close by. I also signed up for the LRP Nitro Masters in Luxemburg.

Darn thing, none of the crank shafts that I ran in the States is legal here

So, right now you can call my Grinder as well

I hope you guys will find a way to keep at least the Bowl alive, one of the nicest tracks I've seen.

Default First points race this weekend

The weather forecast says it will be beautiful on Sunday for our first points race of the 2005 season. Spread the word to other racers and encourage them to come to the Sugar Bowl Sunday 5/22/05. Get your car and come race!

I'll be there early to help out. Last weekend Dennis swept and I tried to squeegee.

Hey Atlanta guys, are y'all planning on going to the A-Train Race in Huntsville on Aug 13 or 14? If there's gonna be some fast guys there we might head down to race witcha.

Also, our annual big race- Beat The Heat 2005 was planned for Aug7-8 weekend but we didn't know the GLC in Toledo was that weekend so we are trying to coordinate a date change. Right now we're down to July 31 weekend or Aug 21 weekend. Please let us know if you guys wanna come and which is better for you.

Our nitro track here is temporary, but we have a very nice track system and a 2 tier steel frame driver's stand built on a tandem axle 16' trailer. You can see some pics at www.msra-racing.com

The asphalt is good and we do traction compound just like RCRCNT and Toledo. The sportsman guys traction roll all the time. All AMB digital system w/loaners if needed. It will be a 2 day race with some type of party/get together on Sat night. We set the track up Fri night so you can begin practice Sat morning whenever you like. We'll have the normal manu. prizes and stuff.

As long as it doesn't conflict with a National race, Ron Atomic is planning on caoming again this year as well as Toastie and a few others. We always have 10-15 outa town guys at the least.

We've been to Atlanta a number of times and would enjoy and appreciate you guys coming to race with us!!!

LMK,
Jason

Well, I had the best wreck of the day; nothing like hauling ass down a straight and flipping 75 feet down the track (by myself). Thank you Dennis for being my pit person.

Should a new thread start since we started racing in Atlanta for this last season? It sure wasn't dead yesterday!
