Absolutely true! I was just dissappointed that Josh didn't get a good soaking from a cooler!!!

JLock,

Absolutely agree with you.

Congrats to Josh and all the finalists

To miker2209... I'll leave out names, so this is about the details, not the people. I'll also exaggerate a bit, to make the point.

Let's say there are only two racers in the race. One turns in faster lap times than the other, but also flames out (or crashes, or gets stuck and needs to be marshalled, or whatever) than the other. As a result of this, the driver who is turning in longer lap times is in the lead. Which driver (if either) is dominating the event? Also keep in mind that this was supposed to be an hour-long event, had it not rained. Being fast for an hour is different than being fast for five minutes, or even twenty minutes.

What you said was "what you write was not really reflecting the reality (a Journalist should write just the facts, not the opinions). When you start describing the A main you said "Mike Swauger dominated from the get-go Mike started in the lead, but had traffic catch up to him, with Mikey running in the middle of the pack for a while".

Yep, that's what I wrote, and that's what I meant. I do "believe that the event was totally dominated by Mugen and Swager (wich is not far to be true)", but in no way was I saying anything even remotely like this would "leave the others look like amateurs".

Yes, Burch was very fast, but had problems. Cyrul was fast, and won the race. Paolo and Scotty looked fast in qualifying, and Paolo looked fast in the Main. I'm not sure what you would have written, were you in my place. I guess that depends on how you interpret the first paragraph I posted here. Had Paolo not had the flame-out problems, and had he been pulling away from Mike Swauger, I'd have written things quite differently.

.......and I should add to what I just wrote, that "dominating the event" isn't enough. To finish first, first you have to finish. That's what Josh did, and if anything, I really needed to say a lot more about Josh, something I did in the write-up and photos on SGrid Online.

To both Mikes,

Why are you disrespecting the fact that Josh Cyrul won the event? Mike and Paulo may have slugged it out early in the main, but it was Josh that won it in the end, plain and simple. It was a shame that it started raining in the middle of the main which dramatically changed overall possible outcome. But all of the could-of, should-of, would-of's still doesn't change the end result. Things may have been totally different if Hara had showed to defend his title but we will never know. Lets all give Josh his due and let us see what happens at the Nats next year.

JLock, if you read the report I wrote, in no way is it disrespecting anything or anybody. I've got a ton of photos of Josh, and the write-up I sent in is anything BUT disrespecting... not to mention that I'm also getting a report on the event in his words. :-)

I am not referring to the report (which I have yet to see). I am referring to the back and forth hairsplitting with miker2209 about what was stressed in the report. For the next 365 days, Josh is the king of US r/c racing until someone dethrones him.

The way I see it, Mike and Paulo slugged it out early. Mike fell back in the pack for a while. Paulo had technical issues that took him out for moments. The rains decided to come. The race was restarted. Josh did what it took and won it in the end. You can't get much simpler than that.

JLock, you're right. In hindsight, a better answer would have been to have just said that I wrote it like I saw it.

Anyone can write a race report - just put together what you saw, with the data from the printouts, notes, and photos, and if you like writing or typing, you can come up with your own complete take on the event. When it's done, go to http://www.sgrid.com/SGM/modules.php?name=Submit_News and post it. I'll fix any grammar or spelling mistakes (if any), add your photos if you sent any, and it will be published within a few days. Or, if you would rather use them, there are other websites where you can publish. If you do it on the SGrid site, you'll be on page one within a day or so. In past years, I've had up to three or four reports from different people on the same event, and they'd all get printed in the Starting Grid. I think that's a good way to do things, but so few people want to take the time to do it.

For me, writing race reports is sometimes almost as much fun as taking photos of the race. I love it when I get feedback that says the report was so detailed, some readers felt they could even smell the nitro!

As I used to tell Ron Paris, if people with all different brands of cars used to complain equally about what I said, I was probably doing well. If only people with one or two brands had something negative to say, then I probably wasn't being "neutral" enough. :-)

I want to give a big THANK YOU to both Ray and Brad of Team RD Logics, I ran a Mongoose at the nats also and they were extremly helpfull all weekend. They both had kind of a tough race weekend at the Nats but were always professional and helpful, we borrowed some stuff back and forth and I appreciated their help. I was in the Masters a main , was contending early but took a HARD hit to my pipe before the first fuel stop, stinger got broke off and coupler go almost broke in half, plus pipe got pushed into the side pulley which gave me super drag brake action whenever I let off the throttle, end result was car got a lot slower and looser with all the drag and the motor tune went crappy with the broken pipe, I just drove around and stayed out of trouble and ended up finished the 45 min main in Fourth! Thanks again to Ray, he gave me a new pipe at the end of the weekend in trade for some parts I had borrowed him earlier, it was much appreciated!!!
