check out the serpent. I think they call it a 966 evo now. I have a serpent 950r with a novarossi jp black edition and it screams at 80mph. they are extreme quality. you can check out mugen also I think the quality has increased substansially. My serpent is about 12 yrs old now so parts are almost impossible to find, but you won't be disappointed with a 966 just you tube it and hold on to your hat

not sure where you are in the world but shepperd montonica Xray RX8 are all good cars with decent support via internet and some shops but i run a Edam at about half the price and the car just works. state side support is not very strong (yet) if you don't know who to call

well bankroll wont be a problem once tax season is here!! just want to find something before then so i know what to buy when i have the money, and so i can find some cool bodies to get at the same time so i can have fun painting. any thoughts on kyosho's inferno gt2? is it decent, good, or crap? the serpent and the xray only have the onroad racing bodys as far as i've seen and i guess what i'm looking for is more of a tourning car so i can get replica bodys of things like muscle cars and import tuners like i can for my wife's RS4 3 EVO+

If your looking at the Kyosho GT2, your interested in 1/8 GT not 1/8 on road. Of course they both run on the same track but 1/8 on road cars all have similar bodys wedge type Lola style bodies. These are the fasssest 1/8 nitro cars you can get. 1/8 GT leans more towards realistic Grand Tourismo/Lemans style bodies.

This might help:
1/8 On road--are more F1 technology based cars, run only .21 onroad engines, run only foam tires, and I have only ever seen run Lola style bodies. For the very advanced and experienced.
*Serpent 996, Xray RX8, Mugen MRX5, etc.

1/8 GT--are buggy based cars that run .21-.28 onroad, off road or Rally engines, run mostly rubber slick tires, bodies come in different types exp. Corvette, McLauren, Porsche, Audi, more of the real car look. These cars are very durable being based off the off road buggy version. In my opinion a little more forgiving to the less experienced.
*Serpent Cobra GT, Kyosho GT1 GT2, Ofna DM1, Team C GT, many new GTs are in the works.

Hope this helps a bit, either way you choose you will have tons of fun.

The Serpent seems to be king of the GT hill, followed by Team C and Kyosho..

I would get whichever of the three has the most reliable part availability.

If you are going to race on a track it is wise to investigate what is driven over there, not only the class as the GT cars or the real fast 1/8 onroad cars but also the brands. It is giving you an idea how to fit in and wich brands are locally supported.

If you are goin to race in the street or on a parking I would advise you to get a GT, the shaft driven and the ground clearance will give less problems.
