Smeltz, the mods look cool

Have you tested it out yet? What's the performance like?

How's the quality out of the box?

Matt,

Thanks for all your support this weekend. The SMELTZ Sirio 12 has to be my fastest motor to date. The performance so far, has exceeded all of my expectations and with only half a gallon thru her. I can't wait to put the other carb and button on. Again, thanks and I'll see you Friday night.

So what's the scoop - the sirio looking stronger than the pixie?

I also got my Engine(MT12) from Matt last week, ran it this weekend. Real strong low end and mid range. I could see the power difference. Had plenty of run time, it could of went 7 min with it as well. My car had never gone as fast as it did. Very impressed with the performance. I like it!!! Can't wait to see its top end on a big track.

Thanks for the excellent Turn-around time. That in it self is what impressed me as well.

Tim

how do you achieve the smoothness on the inside of the car intake? what do you use?

on a old engine that i'm fooling around with i couldn't find a buffing tool small enough to reach the lower section of the carb. so i left it roughish. also do you use a stone bit to make the carb intake larger? (not the actual intake hole but the internal carb body section).

what head shims do you use on your modified engines? just the stock aluminium ones or do you add a copper shim also? if so have you found that the engine revs higher with a extra copper shim?

why is everyone polishing the carbs now? i initially read that the rough carb intake helps with the air fuel process. ( maybe this theory is in line with the opinions posted on the previous pages)

You will never notice the difference between a polished motor and a rough motor. There are some things that need to be left rough to help with the atomization (sp) process. The only gains that you will find is with changing port timing, just like putting in a more radical cam in a real car. Your trying to maximise all the air/fuel that you can. It is a balancing act, if you advance the intake you must advance the exhaust or else you will have for a very inefficient motor. The rest you'll have to figure out on your own...
