What are the differences between these two? Can the Impact be upgraded?? Is there a conversion kit? Thanks

Sinister,
Yes, the older Impact MKII can be upgraded to full 835 specs. Part # 808114
Hope this helps.

Actually, that is not truly correct. The 835 and Impact are on different chassis designs (yes the chassis is different between the two) and many of the parts are not interchangable between the two as well. Shocks and possible gears are the only common things between the two.

Jaime, if that number is the conversion kit, it was never available. It was very expensive and you replaced about half the car. A new 835 is like a hundred bucks more. I should know, I have an Impact.

For sale, if anyone's interested.

If you are talking about the original IMPACT....no, you cannot upgrade from Impact to 835.

If you are talking about 2000 spec and up Impact (called Impact M2 or whatever...) then yes, you can upgrade that version of Impact to 835 by using the 808114, you can probably still find 1 or so on EBAY for like $120 or so...however, 808114 DOES NOT convert your Impact M2 completely to 835, cause 808114 does not come with the Centax 2 clutch and LC gear box, which 835 kits does come with that, which is easily $180 parts....

The best way is, sell your Impact or Impact 2000 or M2 and buy a new or used TRUE 835 and done with it.

Thanks Rookie!! I thought that was the case but did not know that there was a conversion kit for the later Impact edition to a near 835.

Really??? When the 835 first came out Serpent announced the conversion kit. I followed their website for months when I finally got a reply on their forum saying they weren't going to make it due to lack of interest.

Big Phil would probably hook me up, but the last thing I want to do is spend money on a car that's been collecting dust for 2 years. Besides, there's this MRX-3 waiting for an engine

JimL,
With all due respect for the 235 class I would get yer 1/8th ready as nobody races this class in our area anymore. It's either 1/10 sedan or 1/8th gtp & open classes that are the big draws. It is sad because I used to absolutely love my Impact MKII.

235mm was the greatest class ever!!! The speed and handling of 1/8 scale at a much lower cost. The last time I really raced my Impact was the 2002 Regionals in New Hampshire. Dean Issac was there helping a friend who had purchased Dean's old Impact. Dean drove it for a few laps just to get an idea of how the car was doing. When he came off the driver's stand he said he forgot how much fun 1/10 scale was.

Of course I have to point out that I was TQ at that race Like that will ever happen again!
