CorseR, sweet tip. I have every gen Xray and never thought of trying the outdrives. Maybe cause I never wanted to strip them of any parts, but this carpet season I'll pick up a few more for next yrs nitro season.

IMHO, Xray's quaility is hard to beat. But for nitro cars, Mugen is just as comparable in quality and durability.

Rody, your 4.5 would smoke any .12 if you put them on the carpet together. That's mad brushless hp. It's no wonder your rear Spring Steels are mangled. especially if we're talking foams tires.
THANKS

They are almost $28, so probably not to cost effective

some of the guys at our track at moorebank run this oneway combo and from all reports they like the ease of changing from oneway to locker or vicaversa quickly.
and it works well in either setting, it all depends what you prefer to run with

I will use both settings for sure which is awesome. I was more wondering about durability and craftsmanship as well as ease of use.

Any ideas?

kawahara are well known for being the best quality aftermarket gear and are top craftsmanship and durability as they have some clever cookies to come up with all the parts

I brought one off the guys from Kawahara at the Worlds. The main difference is that it allow you to run what is between a 1 way and a spool! Both wheel spin at the same rate but it is on a one way if it make sense. Have not tried that yet but Mike S was running one I was told. As a spool it works the same as any other spool but with 2 pins, so it might last longer without slop!

I looked at Mike Swaugers car at the worlds and it looked like it had the kawahara one in it. He was definatly was running a spool as he told me and Fukuda was running a spool aswell.

Don't know what happen at the end, but I saw the setup sheet that he is running a one way with the lock between 2 drive cups which spin at the same rate left to right. Of course, spool will always be my fav!

Fukuda was running a one-way spool. Just like a one-way, except that the 2 front wheels dont rotate indipendantly of eachother. They are locked. This setting has it's own set of outdrives and does not require pins. The conventional one-way and the conventional spool run the same out-drives and the front drive is changed between the 2 by either adding or removing pins. I've been running one for a while now and it works really good.

p.s. KidDynomite, I usually run my T2 on ashphalt with rubber tyres, but this was my first ever run on carpet with foams. In the 3rd A final, totally mangled the rear outdrive off the line, and i did not even mash it!!
