O.K., front tires wore to 59.08, and the Rear tires wore to 57.43. I'm using the 23 tooth side pulley so the overdrive ration chart shows that I'm somewhere around 1.116 for my overdrive or underdrive, but I don't know what these numbers mean. I think that they refer to the rotation ratio, but what is it that I'm looking for: anythinkg close to 1:1? I'm racing this weekend at Revelations.

1.116 means that for every rotation of the rear tires, the front tires will rotate 1.116 times. Anything over 1.0 is overdriving the front end. Anything under 1.0 is underdriving the front. Last time I ran at Revelations, I ran 45f 42r. I cut the fronts to 57.5 and the rears to 59.5. This gives you a front overdrive at around 1.07 with the 24t pulley. I didn't like the 23t at all. To get a 1:1 with the 23t, you need something like a 4mm split with the fronts being smaller. In my opinion, the 24t is your best bet.

O.K., so i think I've got the overdrive issue understood. 2mm split vs. 1mm split refers to the difference in tire cut (rear 60 & front 58 vs rear 60 & front 59) In general you want more tread on the rear because these cars are generally set up to have overdrive. This means that the front tires are spinning faster than the rears. A 2mm split would lessen the overdrive ratio more than a 1mm split, but for the most part, overdrive will still exist. By the end of the race do you want the front and rear tires to be as even as possible, or do you still want the rear to have more tread? Based on my tire wear readings ( rear 57.43 and front 59.08) would this suggest that my front end hooked up more than my rear or some combo between traction and driving style?

Thanx for the help, and I hope I'm not being too annoying

It looks like you got one of the older kits that came with the 23 and 24 tooth pulley. Use the 24tooth pulley for now and when you get a chance, find a 25tooth pulley. I like the 25 tooth pulley on my car especially at Revelation Raceway. I think it makes the car a lot easier to drive.

I believe it is caused by too much overdrive. It is also caused by how much you slide the rear end of the car around. It is pretty much a common thing for the rears to wear faster than the fronts do. What I usually do is measure the rears after a run and re-true the fronts to get the overdrive back.

Ideally you would want to end the race with the same tire split you started out with of course that's hardly ever the case in reality. Rear tire wear is generally higher than the front so your tire readings aren't too surprising although you would like to see more even wear.

BTW Blanks, you need to move the MTX-4 to the top of your list. It doesn't belong below that G4.

i use the 25,the belt is titter and i hate overdrive, it wrecks the belts and the front drives and my tire size is the same split at the end of a race, and i found that when you use overdrive the rear tires wearout faster,i dont know why but they do so i run 18-25
