If you are racing at Sun Valley which I think you are, I saw someone with MTX-3 pinions and clutchbell on his MTX-4 that said it was from Sun Valley. I think it was 21/27.

Must be awesome fast

Going up by 4 teeth

I almost use that setup in recent race..... but I didn't try it because I'm worried with the 1st gear being too tall ( around 6.0 FDR ). So in last minute I decided to switch car. I use MTX3 with 22/58 (1st) and 29/52 (2nd). With that setup I feel the car is incredibly fast on straight line.

If you use the gear ratios you have listed, you will be stripping gears. You should use the same differences in the number of teeth between the pinions and spurs.

To clarify, you list your pinion sizes of 18 and 24. There is a 6 tooth difference

Your spurs, you list as 52 and 60. That is an 8 tooth difference. You will have a very tight mesh on first gear and too loose of a mesh with second gear.

Always try to keep your spur gears and pinions the same number of teeth difference.... if your 6 tooth difference on your spur gears..... try to keep your pinions at 6 tooth difference also......

Hi Guys!!!

I will be traveling soon, and will take my cars with me..... I am cleaning my MTX4 and found that if I remove the upper tray the chassis bend a little, about 1/8 in difference from the front end and the rear end, but with the upper plate, is looks straight if I use setting blocks.

Do you think that I should chage it or no?? What about a 4mm Chassis instead the stock one?

Thanks
Edgar

Is there a 5mm and 6mm version available? Next race is engine restricted but not pipe restricted. A 5mm vs. 6mm, not pretty. Plus with all other cars on 6mm I can't hear my own car.

Could I just drill it to 6mm?

Bigtbone, I usually get all my spares from Acehardwarehobbies.com or RC-Mushroom.com
