Default Rebuilding

Just finished pulling down and rebuilding the v-one-s, Ive got a mate whos gonna race it next week at Mingara.
Raced the RR yesterday, im stoked with the way it goes, when the 2nd gear kicks in its a handfull, was breaking traction on the straight!............... . I screwed up though, should have put more time and effort in on the lynx3d and getting it set-up for the car, I was all over the track on a couple of occasions, allthough poor tyre choice was also a culprit! Anyway there's allways next week, last meet for the year so I guess we'll see.

Default v-one s

Initially the tyres were Foams 37rear30mm 40front26mm
changed to 40rear Kawaharas 30mm and 45front sprints 26mm
the later set-up worked excellent.
I havent had a chance to get it that fast yet but i reckon its about 30% quicker than the v-one-s with the novarossi on average, top speed who knows?.

Default V1S vs V1RR

Squizzy,

Are you saying that based on a similar engine/pipe config, the V1RR is 30% faster than the V1S???

What's causing the difference in speed? The 2 speed is supposed to be more effectively and it has more grip from the rear floating mount, lower CG from the fuel tank config helps. The only thing I can think of is weight. Is this correct?

What do you think?

Unhappy Stock engine trouble

Hi,

I've spent the past couple of days reading through all the posts under this thread and you guys certainly seem to have a wealth of experience.

I've just got back in R/C after a couple of years out and have opted to go Nitro this time round. I'm please that I seemed to have made a good choice by getting a V-one-S but I've recently started to have engine trouble.

I ran the engine in 7 tank on a stand and then a couple taking it easy round a car parl - no problems.

I've then had 12-15 tanks of pure fun with no real problems - apart from driver error.
A 'mate' reckoned he knew a thing or to about nitro engines and was trying to show me how to tune the engine which mainly involved holding it off the ground at full throttle while he tweaked the throttle screw on the engine. My instinct told me that was a bad thing as I don't imagine it's going to do the engine much good running unloaded for so long. Since then it has behaved really sluggishly it's as if it's running in treacle and it only achieves about 1/3 of normal top speed. I've checked everything that I can think of and tried adjusting the fuel mix. Holding it off the ground it seems to run well enough, doesn't sound like there's any problems. Put it on the ground though and it just does not deliver.

I would appreciate any advice that you could offer and I'm preparing myself for the news that I may have killed the engine, or at least witnessed my mate killing it.

Thanks in advance

Andy

Sounds like its overfuelling to me, go back to basic settings
Low end screw @0.5mm out from flush
High end screw @ 2-2 1/2 out from fully in.
This should make an immediate difference.
Fine tuning will be required from there though.
Its ok when its not on the ground cos theres no load to stop it revving, but when its on the ground the resistance holds it up just long enough to let it over fuel.
Dont let your mate near the car again

Faster meant acceleration and general ability to get around the track, The top speed I suspect would be even more than 30% this thing is a @#$%ing rocket! the weight is about the same, however literally speaking the engine is 30% more powerfull than the novarossi. I havent checked the gearing yet but ill yet you all know the difference between both.

Default Gearing

Gearing

vones

1st 14/43= 7.76:1
2nd 17/40= 5.94:1

vonerr

1st 16/48= 7.58:1
2nd 20/44= 5.56:1

thats about 5% higher gearing for first and about 8% higher second on the v-one-rr which in theory should provide a higher top end with slightly slower acceleration.

If you want to be fussy. 1000wt in the front and 3000wt in the rear, however 1000wt allround will be fine. Even better ask the guys who are racing wherever you are gunna race.
