I'd like an FM one with the usual adjustments (end point etc.), one that I can use digital servos with, but not too expensive. I've been thinking a Hitec Lynx 3D or JR XR3/XS3.... any other recommendations?
Go to the LHS and see how they feel, if it isnt comfortable its not gonna be any good to race with.

If I do get one it won't be from an LHS... too pricey... it'll be from Hong Kong.

What radio are you using squizz?

Judging by the review in Racing Lines on both the Lynx 3D and JR XS3 they're both excellent.

I did have a Lynx 3d but got rid of it and bought a Futaba 3pdf. Nothing against the 3D, i just found the futaba a more "natural" and comfortable radio to use. Ignore the reviews find the features you want or need and then try some radios for feel, if your ordering from overseas make sure the frequency you bring in is legal in Australia as most overseas frequencies are NOT!!! and apart from the radio possibly being seized by customs you probly wont be able to get crystals anyway. (Is the XS3 available overseas?)

The venom is Fu(king noisy!!! but has brilliant acceleration and top end. The eagle doesnt quite have the top-end of the venom but has better torque characteristics.

If you race on a quick track and noise isnt an issue go the venom.

If you race on a technical track go the eagle.

Ps; You can not buy spare stingers for the Venom pipe if you lose them hence mine is still sitting around unused and nearly new!

Value for money = Eagle.

The communication Dept has a section called spectrum.
They control who uses what band and or frquencies for what purpose. For example 27mhz is a common R/C band in the US and other countries whereas here it a Radio Citizen Band as well as emergency uses etc. On the customs dec forn you fill out when sending stuff it is one of the questions and they will confiscate without question if it isnt right.

If the band it is operating on isnt legal for that purpose. You probably dont realise how much R/C there is operating in industries such as manufacturing (car plants) the mining industry etc etc if you clash with them, people dont lose cars , they lose thier life and accordingly they police it.
