That would be tough for 2 reasons.
1. The suspension geometry is not designed to allow the amount of travel you would need to drive it offroad.
2. the spur gears are like butter, and just driving the car on untreated asphalt will likely cause your gear to strip. due to pebbles and small debris.
If your can figure out a way around these issues, it should work. Show us pics of the car when your done!

It's only 2 1/2 years later but you are probably still waiting for the answer LOL...yes it can be done with some of the parts from the TC3 rally conversion kit....

I have 2 NTC3s - 1 is a Factory Team with a OS engine that is really fast and I run that one all the time. This one is pretty stock except for the two speed and it just sits around. It even has a AE .12 engine that I just rebuilt because I had extra parts for this discontinued engine! When I saw someone on another site had done this I thought what the heck, good project for the old one that I never play with!

I will let you guys know how it works, I have not had it out yet. Hopefully later this weekend. If anyone is interested here are the parts that are required:

The Team Associated TC3 Rally Kit shock shafts are part # 6461 and are .56" travel.
The front rally spring part # is 6494 and are Green springs.
The rear rally spring part # is 8232 and are Black springs.
Use #2 shock pistons in the front shocks.
Use #1 shock pistons in the rear.
Use 25w shock oil in all 4 shocks

The tires are Tamiya 1.9" soft block rally tires and the wheels are HPI 26mm stock car wheels.

Cost for the longer stock shafts, springs, pistons and oil was $25 - wheels and tires were $30, so $55 total.

Ha ha yes this thread is back from the dead like a zombie! LOL

You mean the scratches on the bottom of the chassis? The ones there now are from use on the street, I have not had it in the gravel/dirt yet. I can add pix just want to make sure its what you want to see.

By the way the clearance is 20mm with the shocks fully extended. When I bounce it a few times the ride height settles at about 16-17mm so its pretty good for smooth dirt/gravel. The chassis will hit the ground with the suspension fully compressed but I think that would be hard to do unless you are on some really rough terrain.

I want to see the bottom because I want to see what you did to the spur gear hole.... I hope you did something to cover this or else you will probably have a 3 minute run before your replacing the part....

No I didn't but you do make a good point!!!

I will ponder on it and come up with something - should be an easy solution. Any ideas? Maybe a piece of lexan from an old body would do the trick.

I'll ask the other guy who gave me the idea what he did for this.

I have seen people just use high grade tape on the bottom... I think you can get by with some good duct tape just clean it up before you put it on and use layers maybe?... Or maybe you can find that tape with the threads in it... dont know what its called...

Here is what I am going to try. I used aluminum tape to cover the spur opening and the opening where the steering servo is. Then I went around the edges of the tape with fast drying silicone to make sure it stays on. That tape is pretty tough, I will see how it does! If it doesn't work it's easy to get the tape and silicone off.
