Get the FW05S
It has the plastic box to hide all those ugly bits away in, you then only need to think about secondary waterproofing.
Only the radio tray is different between the S and the R models.

I think I'd agree. Cheap comparitively as you do not need to fork out extra money for a new car and secondly it already has a receiver box if it's all that important !

Hehe...

You already have a relatively good car and fast and reliable engine. Also a good TX/RX. Spend your money on new wear/tear parts like your gears, etc. Get a few spares so you can play around with ratios. The get good servos to go with your TX.
Some other items like different springs, shock oil, etc.

If still got money, which I think you do , get a car setup kit. And some proper tools.

There is nothing wrong with your current car. If it aint' broke, don't fix it. The NTC3 is still doing well in races all across America. The car is not bad. You just need to understand it better and improve on your driving.
Besides, you have already invested so much in it, like tools etc.

Just my opinion.
Maybe I've said too much.
I'm outta here... !!!

Look at international and local race results...that should more or less give you an idea which car to buy. That being said, parts availability should also be part of the equation and kyosho parts in M'sia is "seasonal"

I am not recommending either cars. Try and drive both cars if you could and judge it personally. Both cars have their advantages and weaknesses. Likewise, many have said the FW05R is weak on big tracks but I found this to be a myth, with a 39t bevel gear, 27t pinion and 45t spur, you will have a FDR of 5.0 which is more than enough to cover the long straight at Titiwangsa and see it for yourself at the local races whether the FW05R is lacking top speed compared to other cars.

At the end of the day, its your $$$, so spend it wisely!

i owned the 710 and now i have the fw-05R , and im very happy with it and i have no problem at my local track that has a 250 ft plus straightaway! i had it now for a year.my friend "impalabob64" had a couple of 710"s and after he bought the fw-05r he sold all his 710 stuff! The best thing you can do is buy try it and go from there. It took me a couple of different cars that suited my driving style.

Somebody mentioned that after observing Bobby drive at the Winternats, he thought that Bobby would have qualified higher if he drove the 710...

And to his left is a lady driver !

But note that I'm not talking and making references about anybody else but just Bobby alone. Regardless if he only had little track time.
