.............I bet the car is really fast on the topend. The 3 speed should give you the advantage on a large track. Are you going to sell this setup as a conversion kit?? I would be interested in buying one.

I would recommend a 16 tooth first gear. Should give a lot more snap.

interesting, I don't have a 1/8th car but that does look interesting.

Have you done any stress tests on the centax or engine?

16-19-22 sounds dead on for the kind of tracks I have in mind that this might work well on. A 16-50 is pretty much my standard first gear on a Mugen.

Hi, I race an MRX4X and am going to the worlds in Lostello. Being that it is such a big track I might be interested in just buying the 23t 2nd gear. Do you sell them separately to the 3 speed. And is it the same diameter as the current gears. Thanks

Very nice setup you have there. Is this conversion IFMAR and ROAR legal?

.............On the HPI R-40 it is the stock gearing not the optional 0.8 and I was thinking maybe 48,45and 42 tooth for the spurs and 15, 18, 21 for the pinions. looks like the V1RRR uses the 0.8 gears so let me know what kind of ratios you can come up with for the V1rrr.

Back in the 90's BMT had a 3 speed gearbox and by then it was for sure legal. If you take a search on ebay I think you will find the parts or else Mantua models still seems to support the older BMT models. Basicly the 3rd speed is just a 2nd speed with other gearing, the setup of the gearbox is the same as the current HPI RS4-3 uses.

An 42/23 in 3rd gear is not you wanna use on a track, it is to heavy.

Other models 3-spped with a direct fit is the from a Shumacher fusion, even the ratio's are more close to the mugen ratio's.
And another one which can work is from a Kyosho Giga Cruizer.

Have there been any issues with centrifical forces causing the extra long 3spd assembly to wobble?
