Questions?? V1 RRR Evo WC Team edition or Serpent 720 09.

Greetings everyone.
Well I think the title pretty much sums it up. I have the choice of buying either from a closed down hobby both pre-built ex displays. The v1 is going for approx 240 while the serpent is 300 but comes with another semi complete 720 08 kit.

So my question is which one should I get? Which one will better suit a race application? I want to stat joining amature races. For now I have an older superten so I'll build my skill up and I'll have to wait a few months till the kit comes anyway. The parts support for both are ok so I dont think parts will be an issue.

Any feedback it thoughts would be really appreciated as I pretty much have to decide by today.
Regards.

And forgot to mention neither of them have any electrics or engine. But I'm thinking of getting the same servos and engine regardless what car I choose.

Hi,
Thanks for the info. But I need to choose from one of the 2 as I've told the seller I'll be getting one. I was actually suppos to buy both but now I'd rather use the money for something else.

I had the Kyosho. Traded for a 720 no regret.

I am not good at setting up cars. People at the track set it up for me. I feel the serpent is more stable and the plastic is stronger. The rear end on my serpent is more planted. But do you have serpent dealer in your country?

Fair enough. Yeah there is a Serpent dealer here in Australia. Walter RC i think there called. The only thing that disappoints me with the Serpent is that you cant get as much aluminium parts as the RRR. I can get all the standard parts but hop up parts are very limited to the 720. Unless ive been looking in the wrong places...

^^^ I think this guy might be a Bit biased lol.

Out of the two, if you have to, serpent.

But if you want to race competitively I would choose either and go for a newer car

if you are getting the serpent, then you have parts already, one 09 and near complete 08. i ran the 720 08, upgraded to the 733, and it took near on 12 months to get the same pace as my 720 08 had . but in the end , the 733 went much quicker. i know Walter doesnt keep stock of 720 parts, but if you were to place an order, they can be special ordered if you choose to go that way, also i have a roller 720 as well if you need, its well used but as far as arms etc, they are still in new condition. Cheers.

Don't get the 720. There's no parts support for them. Serpent switched parts suppliers since the 733. So whoever made parts for the 720 no longer supplies Serpent anymore. Only way to get parts is Ebay or anyone who still have a strong supply of old stock.

As for the Kyosho, there's still plenty of parts for the RRR. On top of that, there's better aftermarket support for the RRR such that its easier to find parts.

I'm not biased for Kyosho because I did run a Serpent 733 with great results. Its just that between the 720 and the RRR, you're better off getting the RRR parts wise. Either that or a used MTX-4 or 733.
