Spooky, I think what Mike was saying is that although DM-1 has a flat chassis but it has a kickup on the diff case. Do you know if Team C GT8 has any type of kickups at all? I thought their GT8 is based on their offroad buggy as well.

I suggest rcmikel do some checking on that TeamC car. They have a T8T1/8
Competition Truggy that sure looks like the GT8 car. So if it must have 'offroad' lineage......there it is. My earlier question as to 'why keep the kickup' as an issue isn't solved by saying Ofna is okay because......(oh, mike, if you
'haven't even seen one'.......). You're not going to ban Ofna so don't do something like trying to ban TeamC. Do the homework.

It's like weeks of progress for rules just went back into the cave.

I happily run Kyosho, so don't even try that one on me.

The logic in the 'kickup' argument is not there and neither should be the topic.

....What is the difference in a 'Rally' motor with a big head ??......Rally as I understand it is 'single-speed GT in Europe'....

Regarding the GT class and the rules...

Having a set of rules for this class that are set in advance and easily enforceable are keys to success. Thank you Mike for doing this!

To read complaints here from from people that are not even affected by the local track rules for one particular event is ridiculous.

If your not attending, if you're not racing GT, or if you're racing GT and your car is legal....why post?

I support Mike and the LH crew as they assemble a plan for yet another fun and successful event. Looking forward to it!

Just some info about the TeamC car.

Team C has several different cars.
T8=buggy
T8T=truggy
GT8L=long chassis GT8
GT8=short chassis GT8

All of these cars are based on the T8 buggy.

The GT8L has like 90% of its parts from the T8. Different parts are:
- Shocks (shorter)
- Shock towers (lower)
- Chassis, flat chassis + longer
- CVD+some other parts changed due to the longer chassis
- Bumber, diffusers and body posts
- 2 gear tranny

Its easy to add kickup to the GT8L just add some spacers in the front of the diff box

Check out the casino hotels in Joliet. I'm local, so I don't need a hotel, but I've heard good things about staying at the casino (good prices, free food, and of course gambling, if you're into that kind of thing).

Mike,
Can we run the carbon fiber max velocity chassis in the Ofna. It is identical to the stock chassis other than carbon fiber material?

And I just want to confirm that we can run any priced off road motor that is .28 or less. When I called your shop today I was told there was a 200 limit on engine price? Didn't make sense after reading the rules posted on this thread.

Thanks,

Shawn

Here is the GT rule that Mike L. posted on page 1, based on the posted rules, several guys had already purchased brand new offroad engines for this race with prices higher than $200. According to the rules, there is NO limit on engine price but only restriction on engine type (offroad engines .28 or smaller).

1/8 and 1/10 will go by Roar rules

1/8 GT Class
Chassis : Any 1/8 scale buggy based shaft driven nitro powered car. Any off-road conversion is OK, chassis must have kickup.
Body : Any commercially available GT style body.
1. Wings and spoilers can be used if they are the original with the body and cut on the factory lines. Rear of the bodies should maintain tail lamps and can not be completely cut out. Engine must be under body.

Tires : Any commercially available rubber (No foam based tires allowed) GT style tires are OK.
1.Any insert is OK.
2.All tires must fit under the body. (No addition of wheel flares)
3.Wide rear tires will be allowed.

Engine : Any .28 or smaller displacement offroad engine

Fuel tank: 150cc max.

Pipes : Any tuned pipe is OK.

No electronics may be added to aid in vehicle stability.

If you have any specific question about Gt rules just ask.

Yeah, I saw that but it didn't say anything about a carbon fiber chassis vs. stock.....just mentioned the kick up rule.
