JP4 is one of the quieter pipes. Its a 3 chamber pipe. More Chambers = less sound.

Thanks again Trickle.

If that's the case then I'm just lost. is it possible that the jp-4 by design is generally loud compared to other 3 chamber pipes? I'm having a hard time believing that the LRP .30 is just making that much noise on its own even with a INS box installed.

I know that the JP4 is quieter than the JP3. Plus the JP4 has better run times. Its very possible that the LRP .30 is an inherently loud engine. I've never personally ran it, maybe somebody who has can chime in on this one?

Remember this pipe was designed first for a .21 buggy motor with the aim being great fuel economy, very very smooth or linear throttle response with decent power across the usable rpm range. All of these pipes work with the SOUND pressure wave produced by the engine. So at this point based on displacement you are out of the ball park that the resonance of the pipe was designed around.

If you run a rubber deflector on your JP4 THEN the sound becomes very loud regardless whether you use an INS-box or not. So if you want to reduce the noise from your pipe then run a inx-box without a deflector on your pipe.

You guys run PIPES?!?!?!?

Noise!?! I LOVE the noise of PERFORMANCE my NITRO GT8 produces, that why I run Nitro. I would run electric if I wanted to hear swooooossh and my grandmas sewing machine running!!

Hey that's why people go to MotorSport events, to FEEL the noise and excitement!!

Vex , I'm afraid that engine IS just loud. I've been around a number of them and it is one of the loudest engines ever.

So I took the car out this weekend and tried a new clutch.. the BuKu... works great...I like the way it hooked up.... simple design and easy to adjust if needed.... although i didnt touch it... Monty set it for me and it seemed to be fine..
I will rip it out tonight and see if it has any weird wear issues.

Yes IMOH, we should keep the clutch rule simple, No centrax clutch. let all the improved clutch from offroad side help us tune our cars. changing stock clutch spring is PITA.

Yes. No to Centax! Cost's and chasing a clutch setup doesn't sound like fun.

I have those on my other cars... kinda a drag... but if you understand concepts and have a good teacher... they are awsome... Tom Camou from Mugen helped me in the begining and I have never had a problem with them..
I totally agree that they should not be on a GT8 ....
