Talking Burch's piston!!

So what has anybody heard about Burch's suspect piston? I heard that the tech inspectors were really taking a close look at the piston in the motor, but thats ALL I have heard.

Ray,

I wouldn't get too hung up on rumors of teching...I ran a set of tires through 2 quals and they were fine the first time through, and the second time they teched them, they told me that they were illegal, even though I ran them in my last qual.

Those tech guys were not that experienced...

So is a dished piston illegal? I dont know the tech procedure for these motors? Is there a minimum CC of the head with piston TDC? Do they test for that?

Basically-I run a Nova Mega engine-so if he has it-I want to be able to buy it !!!! Greed plain and simple.

I think that was the issue. Where do you buy a novamega .12 with a dish piston??? They were not measuring it correctly from what I heard because of the dish. The motor checked o.k. cc wise when they teched it correctly. Still do not know where you buy it however?

You don't buy a dished piston, it was probably done by M.S. that does all the serpent guys motors. Either he dished a stock piston or they had one machined with a dish in it.

displacement is bore and stroke, there is no dish rule... the tech guys never gave ralph any slack as i watched them tear down the motor and measure everything.. they were very curiouse about stuff though.. the dished piston would have a matching head to keep compression, and would be good for different performance things.. remember the paris dish... old new... no rumors of tech issues are not true..

tech let some marginal rims trough initially, 30.5mmm rims , problem was that the english measurement in the book is larger than the metric......

and if you rotate the rim it probably varys a bit.........

the wing measuring was by far the worst thing tech had going.. but it was the same screy thing for everyone there were no exceptins, alot of guys lost there first round due to tech issues, no matter who they were.....

it was by far the best tech situation i have seen come out of a roar national event i have been to in 3 or 4 years..

I never said it was illegal! I just answered the question about what was the question about Ralph's piston. It was an awesome event and Ralph ran a very smart race. The fastest car nor the best driver win "EVERY" race some times cicumstance and strategy play a huge role in the outcome. Baker ran the fastest laps in the main but broke a pillow ball retainer cap and lost 8 laps in the pits.

He ran out of gas before the first pit stop, never flamed out. No .12 MS or not come with a dish piston according to MYTSN.com only the .15 and .21

the best i have heard is the burch took easton out in the third corner......

the posobiliy was there but burch was in front of easton before the corner... i have a pic of the straight, burch was turned around backwards easton fliped and went to the wall.. need a video of the corner.. but from my vantage point burch passed on the straight and easton pushed into his rear as the third place car got both of them.... and burch ended up spinning the car around and only losing a couple of positions, and quickly got right back to the front....

The car broke and it was running when the corner marshal handed it to me. I killed it.
