Hey guys i totally agree, VRC is not an exact replica of RC racing, but you both mentioned something that it definitely improves and that is ,hand /eye coordination.
I used it for most of the winter months and found that i was able to anticipate corners better, as for set-up, its more about , learning the fundamentals than trying to get the car to react exactly as yours would at the track.
In VRC there is a perfect clutch, the motor does not run too lean or too rich, there are no loose parts or banged up bodies, chunked tires and you can set your time as to how long you want your fuel to last.
other than that, all i can say is that it helped me in many ways, also gave me something to do after work on the cold winter months.
VRC is definitely worth the money.

I would just like to add they are bringing out engine tuning soon so you can have it too lean or rich which is going to throw a spanner in the works.

As for fuel you can't set it to how long a tank lasts, you can only set the time for when the announcer tells you to come into the pits for refuelling.

Tanks only last 5 minutes and if you gear it wrong they last less but if you gear it right and adjust clutch properly you can maybe stretch it to 6 minutes which is just like real racing.

I sold all my electric 12th Scale Cars and 10th Touring Cars (and Thousands of dollars worth of Electric Support Equipment ) last fall and use only VRC for practice. I now only Race 8th Scale On Road in the Spring, Summer and Fall. VRC keeps me competitive and has saved me Lots of Dollars.

I use a Projector with an 80 inch screen.

Yeah, it is kinda hard to use with a 17" monitor. Does anyone know any way to connect it through a television set?

You need a computer that has some sort of video out from the video card. Most computers should have this , normally its an s-video and lately dvi or hdmi connections are on the back of them now.

Then just run it to the TV.

I came by yesterday, you weren't there. Maybe I will reschedule my trip to Al's since they were closed yesterday by the time I got there.

Comparison of VRC to Real-Life

This was done by the physics "wiz" of VRC, Todd Wasson. He was the driver of both cars, think it's realistic?

That is pretty damn close, I had to take a couple of looks to see which one was the real one.

I like this game its pretty close to the real thing the only thing i can pick about is that the cars don't step out under accel like the really do.

I have been running the sedan on the Tamiya track a lot getting ready for the RC Car Action race. How many times has your real sedan gotten stuck on its side. Very annoying. It will get stuck there, and then you have to wait 5 seconds for them to marshal it. I was on a 17 lap run til that happened.
