Balance the tires. Or rebalance to adjust for tire wear and edge reglue-ing. Or the wheel is bent from a wreck. Check axle bearings and shock/hinge pin binding as well.

Couple days old Serpent Cobra GT RTR is turning off when trying to shift to 2nd gear.

I went to pick it up and the wheels were locked. I pushed it forward and it almost seem like the gears were locked then it popped and released rolling freely. The gear mesh feels perfect, no binding, brakes are adjusted to roll.

Any idea what it might be?

Thank you for the help.

check both tranmissions. the small gear inside the has setscrews that can sometimes loosen without threadlock, also the 2speed gear outputs can suffer from the same thing. Another thing to check is the 2speed's one-way. Clean it out with motorspray and put some one-way bearing lube on it. I had some similar problems but from a kit, bunch of guys told me they had some of these issues too.

I'm pretty sure I found the issue the 2 speed assembly was all the way tightened...
