Serpent Cobra GT

I have built a dozen or more serpent kits and I never had any issue with any of them. I'm sure that what happened to you only happens one in a 100,000 kits. Serpent will be more than willing to take care of the problem, I promise you.
If X-RAY built a gt car it would not be half the car that the Serpent is!!

Only issue I had was the diff mesh. I took some advice from some serpent drivers and had no issues. Now I just need to get my setup right. Stock setup has good corner entry, push in the middle, and a little loose coming out of the corner. I definitely like the quality of the kit. I'm really looking forward to driving it in the Byron's Challenge in two weeks.

My rear diff housing had some plastic left over from the casting process. it was touching the outside edge of the diff gear. I ground the excess plastic away and all sweet. There Is a small mistake in the manual re the steering arm mounting hole. at instruction a35. ?
Cheers and enjoy your first race

I have no shims in the front or rear yet . They feel good as they are. Maybe this will change after a drive

I spoke to two Serpent driver's and they said to put the diff in with no shims and run it a few tanks. Once you have run it then go back and shim the diff mesh. My front was smooth originally and my rear felt like there was sand in the case. Once I ran it everything seemed to get better. I'm going to set my diff mesh tonight.

Ran mine for the first time last night
Well I got my Serpent GT Tuesday afternoon and had a race Wednesday evening... so you all know what I did. Stayed up all night and built it so I could retire the trusty IGT immediately.
Wow, what a car! It was a great build, super straight forward and everything went together well. I did have the same ring and pinion mesh tightness that others have mentioned but it was fine, four laps and it was smooth as silk.
I won the first heat, seconded the second and seconded the main. I hadn't even put the car on a setup board. The car turns like a TC, I love it.
So happy with this purchase, I finally love GT racing! Well done Serpent, you rocked it!

Any setups available for sharing?
Folks, has anyone been sharing setups? I am setting up for a very tight track and would love to hear where others have found success.
For the very tight track I have found the following to help:
Springs: included yellow and purples in the kit in the prescribed locations
Shocks: #11 piston in the rear and #13 in the front with 80# in the rear and 60# oil in the front
Zero toe
30K diff front 10K diff rear
#6 inserts on toe and castor in the rear, #0 inserts on the front for both as well
Zero droop in the front, 4mm in the rear
The car is turning really well except for a slight off power push.
Anyone else learning how to set this car up well for tight turning?
Thanks in advance,
-Adam
