+1 that's why I posted my "it's expensive" opinion.HB priced the D8 way lower than it's competitors and sold very well.Looks like they come out and say "check this out,the R10 it's more expensive than the competition because we can set the price whatever we want and you'll pay".Of course I know it's a educated guess from Tower and expect to be on the 400$ -500$ bracket, maybe lower.Hint hint!

The price is similar to the competition, but the car appears to come standard with a lot of parts that are options on other brands such as aluminum pulleys, titanium layshafts and turnbuckles, etc, stuff that quickly drives up the costs of other cars. I don't think the price is inappropriate, but I wouldn't complain if it came in lower either. I think too low a cost will discredit the car; prior to winning the worlds, the d8 had a reputation similar to ofna, something cheap to get you going. Only after winning a worlds did a lot of people consider it a legitimate player.

The price is inline with other brands in the market. But we are told have an Aluminium bulkheads is cheaper to produce then plastic, so why is Xray NT1 so much cheaper:P

You have to wait until the shops are selling it, then you know the price. And then waiting some months can be awarded with lower prices.

RedRC.net have pictures up of Hara's car at the Worlds in Thailand in one of the latest reports. I am sure they are still trying things, and a win at the Worlds would be a major marketing coy for the company. He has Kevlar pullies on and has ditched the receiver box, receiver box is an easy one as he is a racer and will be wanting to save as much weight as possible. The pullies are more interesting to me as not a fan of alloy pullies and loved how my Xray rolled with the Capricorn Kevlar pullies on it!

Yes it's inline with other offerings but what I want would be the newer cars setting lower prices and not oh the other ones got away with it so we can also do it with or without a win in the World Championship, get my drift?

nitrodude,

Making a profit is not the issue, it is pricing the class out of the reach of your average person that is becoming a major issue with the onroad side of the hobby. Remember back in the days when there were club tracks and you could buy a HPI nitro, Nitro TC3, or even a Serpent Impulse or Mugen MTX2 and could get started racing with everything for under $500? Even if you do go to a few big events, you still had a car that you could compete with on some level. Nowadays, you have to spend $500+ just for the rolling kit and that is still not counting engine ($400+ for high comp-level), electronics (if you don't already have any), and support gear. This is the reason why onroad is having a hard time sustaining itself. That why it stikes many of us that HPI/HB is going the pricing route of Mugen, Serpent, Xray, Capricorn, etc when they use to be the budget-conscience manufacturer in the market.

So, it will be hard to make a profit if very few are buying your product, eh?

Fellas,

Don't get me wrong, business have to make money, I know that. But, someone needs to start reigning the pricing of onroad products back in so that more people can buy and participate. When you can go buy a Losi 8ight RTR buggy for about $700 and be a decent competitor after some stick time whereas buying a 200mm onroad kit, engine, tires, tire truer, body, starter box, glow igniter, batteries, radio, servo, and fuel, all of that costing you well over $1200 (comparing nitro to nitro this time), which one would you go with if cost is one of your pressure points?

Now, back to the R10, this is a good looking car, many of the queues from current crop of cars is evident in its makeup. If all the stuff pictured comes in the kit, that would be a plus (less hop-ups to buy). If their pricing for this stays around the estimated $550-$650, they will have some buyers. However, lets hope that they do like Xray and have a club-level version (without the bling but can be added later if you want) that is a little more affordable for the average person/parking lot racer.

This car is doing great at worlds, but the car was also developed at that track. So those drivers should have a good setup, right? I also hope HB comes out with a less expensive version, but look at a TCXX for 499.99 and those hopes go out the window...

Default hpi fan from back in the day

i started racing with a nitro rs4 running rubber tires. i got out of the hobby just when the hpi proceed and r40 was starting to come out.when i decided to get back into the hobby just a year ago hpi was off the map for a competitive on road car. so went with mugens mtx4r never really raced it hard do to work schedule. now i have shepherd velox and i am learning the car, it's a slow process far more older now. i know if the Hb/hpi does well and with good marketing and support, for i feel was the down fall of the proceed and the r40. i think that a lot of true Hpi fans will come back. like i said earlier i am a hpi fan from back in the day. i will keep my eyes on this car and ears to the buzz going around

This car is definitely turning heads. But I believe this is the home track of the gents running this car. I would like to see this car away from it's home track.

Pass you soon...
