The GHEA shaft worked a treat last night, well done guys!

Tried some different tyres last night so wasn't sure what to expect, car was a lot better and managed another PB for fourth round of qualifying and finished 2nd overall in the final with another PB run.

Big thanks to Abbey and Richard for help and now it all starts again getting everything ready for this Friday night and racing again.

Andrew

Bit of an echo here... but keep an eye on the brake cam shaft and bearings it sits in. My shaft is bent and both bearings are shot already. My brake pulley has moved a little which could have been the cause.

Hello guys, Pato Concha here with small note ...

As some of you may know ive been using R10 car during the last 4 months or so.

Despite the lack of support from factory to our national commercial representative, we tried hard to make this chassis to work. We have been experienced lots of problems killing spur gears like crazy !!! and even with couple of A-Mains fighting hard for first place showing amazing performance, always a fail on transmission chewing spurs killed our experience even couple minutes before end of mains.

Now, im on a job assignment in Mexico City, and a friend who distributes R10 locally, asked me to go to a race with him and help him with setup. The thing is that, as surprise, my friend registered MY NAME on the race, and i ended racing his R10.

I need to admit i was not completely happy as per the problems i had in Chile with the chassis during 4 months, and obviously the fact i didnt know the track so no expectations on doing a good job in front of top mexican onroad drivers attending the meeting.

From the 3 qualifiers (5 minutes each), only one was great the other 2 were like "learning track and not forcing the car too much because may fail" ... and for my surprise, only your best qualifier counts for mains and i was magically on A-Main (6th position, but A-Main).

So ... history short ... i WON the race by 5 laps (40 minutes A-Main) with a box-stock-R10-and-R10-Setup ... only change was to put 53T 2nd spur and thats all ... 100% stock fluids in shocks and diffs, stock springs. Ohhh and as extra, i made the fastest lap on A-Main

Maaaaan i couldnt be more happy, and obviously my friend was happy too because after the race he sold 2 kits lol !! ...

My 1/10 nitro sedan sponsor in my country (Chile - Southamerica) have the strong desition of leave the R10 behind and go for Serpent, but after this experience i convinced him to let me work on the car until end of year and see what happens and annalize what things for sure we are doing wrong with our cars. If things does not improve, i will be racing serpent in 2014, but i want to give an extra chance to the R10 until end of year.

Here some pics of the track and event ... :

I like those banked turns, wish there was a track with that in the states.
You can prob get on the gas hard around that turn but if u lose it it'll shoot you of the top like a rocket

A tip if you are "killing" spurgears is to check the plastic inserts for the 2speedshaft bearings. You need fresh inserts and glue them into the alubulkhead. use highquality bearings and check the 2speed so there is minimum gap to the housing. I have not destroyd a singe gear so far, but my team mates has until i gave them this tip.

Also check so that your clutch bearings are in good shape.

I have also been having stripping spur gear problems. Running perfect races, only to have it go wrong during middle of race.

I will check those plastic inserts. However I have held the shaft and checked for play, but shaft is solid no rocking.

Pato: Good to hear about your good result with the R10

What issues have people been having with the fuel tanks?

Fuel tank doesnt seems to seal very well and produce changes on engine tunning. In my case, replaced full fuel tank cap for XRAY tank one ... just had to cut off about 1mm of the tank border and thats all, now the seal is perfect (your pitman needs to push a little over the tank cap but thats all) ...

Just wanted to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a happy New Year.

Richard has had a great year with his HB R10, no radio issues with the stock receiver position like people thought. Car has been strong and reliable.

Firstly a very big thank you to Abbey for allowing me participate and then keeping us fed and high on coffee and then even being a fantastic pit person to boot. Also a big thank you to Frontline Hobbies and RCHobbies for their product support and great service over the year with keeping us running. Also thanks to Harry and Luke for help over the year as always.

Andrew

A RC track with a banked turn-now thats sick! You should post a video of the cars flying around that corner.

Has anyone had issues with #108591 - CLUTCH BELL BUSHING? Bearings seemed to be hard to get on an off and replaced with a new one and it was much easier.

Curious... Thanks in advance

Woh, HPI don't seem to care much about serious racing. Think it is more a battle of survival at the moment.

I hope they aren't phasing out the HB Brand 'cuz the website is no more. It must be easier to sell trucks and buggies than on road cars
