what is your acceleration like and top speed ? if its slow to take off and top speed is good, then it is straight into 2nd gear and you cant notice it, you need to tighten your 2 speed screws with the springs in them.. if it accels fast, and doesnt hit 2nd, then you need to loosen your 2 speed screws with the springs in them.
i used to run the car a very long time ago, and cant remember what the 2 speed looked like, Sorry, but its the best i can explain it.

2 screws with springs in them. these screws need to be adjusted evenly, as each side of the shoe opens up and locks the 2nd hub so you get 2nd gear.

Ok so if I ajust one screw 2 turns to the the other needs to be the same? And do you and idea how far the screws need to be turned to make 2nd work? Half way maybe?

Yes each screw 2 turns then the other 2 turns as you described. i would really undo the screws, and start from scratch, loosen them till you can pull the 2 shoes apart easily. then screw in each screw say one turn at a time till its firm, but still able to pull apart by hand. refit it, and then run the car, if it still fails to shift into 2nd, then loosen each screw 1/4 of a turn at a time, and retry. can take 5 mins to get it, or can get it first time its put back together. its an adjustment that needs to be done, then rerun the car to check it. no short cuts for this one. hope it helps.

Default adjusting two speed

turn the screws all the way in so they are tight and then unscrew each of them 2.5 turns out and then try it and adjust according to the previous post that explained the acceleration
